New Exhaust ???
« on: January 12, 2012, 05:34:20 PM »

Just wondering when would be the best time to fit my new stage1 fullsac exhaust system  on my new CVO Ultra???  :nixweiss: Before I pick up the new bike from dealer or while it gets it's first service ?  :nixweiss:
What did you do ? Or what do you recommend ?

If you wait until the first service you'll have to buy another clamp for the crossover if you don't like the heat-induced discoloration it'll have by then because of the cat.

I'm doing mine now.  Only 800 miles.  Mt mufflers are heading to fullsac for 2" cores and an x pipe on the way. Why wait?? :nixweiss:

Just remember, the longer you wait, the harder it will be to bang out the baffles.  I waited over a year to do mine and they were tough to get out.  Wish I'd done mine sooner.

I am going to put my fullsac on with 2 miles on my CVO Ultra Classic. I just want to get this all over with before the riding season starts. Here in Maine it is short enough, so cams and 2" baffles and tuner are going to be done in one session.

The stealers here in the West won't do any mods, (apart from cosmetic/bling) to a new machine until after delivery.
Most they're happy to do at the first service.
They reckon they can get nabbed for delivering a new machine that does not comply with Australian ADR compiance, and in some cases they claim that some mods void the warranty.
The occasional blind eye must be cast though if some of the yarns are to be believed.

My guess is that by now you've most probably found out what they are prepared to do pre delivery?

Personally IMO it's up to you.  Me personally, I like to drive with stock exhaust for a while.  At least 500 miles.  Why? Because I like to listen to the engine and drive train during the break in period.  Get's me used to the sounds of those components without the noise of the pipes. By the 500 mile mark your ear is trained to those sounds and should something be different after that time, you are more likely to pick up on it.  Many wait until the 1000 mile check up and then do your mods.  There is no right or wrong way.  It's up to you.  1000 miles goes fast if you can wait? Good luck.
