GOT MY (NON-CAT) '09 PIPES JET-HOT COATED AND INSTALLED
« on: March 19, 2009, 11:57:09 AM »

 :worthless:

beat ya to it...unfortunately took 'good' pics at 7 meg and won't load , if one of you gurus can shrink 'em somehow I'll email 'em to ya so they can be posted...otherwise - just boring text:

I got their 'Extreme Sterling' coating inside and out...my bike is real hot at a standstill and I'm taking every route to remedy that, they're supposed to drop the pipe temps a couple hundred degrees...also supposed to flow better although can't measure that...gettin' a Dyno tune for my already installed SERT next Wednesday...we'll see

Open explorer, find you pictures, right click - open with Microsoft office picture manager (comes with office) and there is a function under picture that allows you to re size to the 1024 - 768 size allowed under the forum.

Another option...

If the pics are standard .jpg or .bmp files open them up with MS Paint (comes w/ Windows) then from the Image menu choose Stretch \ Skew...

Set both Horizontal and Vertical at about 35% and be sure to save or re-save as .jpg.

That should shrink them substantially.  If not send me a PM and you can email to them me and I'll shrink them for you.  I don't think my personal email has a problem w/ 7MB files.

Nice job Carlos! They look great and if they do as advertised, adds another means of reducing the heat issue. Any drop in the surface temperature of the headers will reduce the radiant heat being transfered to both the rider and the engine. Money well spent! Buy the way, how much money?

Carlos can chime in but I had the same thing done to a set of Non CVO headers at Jet Hot and it cost me $210 - less shipping. Mine looks just as good as Carlos but I have yet to install them. The weather is taking a turn for the better here in Boston, so they'll go on soon.

yeah, they advertise about a 400 degree drop on the website...we'll see, also another added plus is that the reflection of the pipes not covered by the heat shields off some chrome motor pieces show shiny stuff instead of the nasty bluing from the originals...and they're supposed to never turn or blue...again, we'll see...total bill was $228...not counting me shipping to them

sorry, no before and after readings taken, just seat of the pants feel- or maybe thigh of the leg feel...it is much, much cooler, doesn't shut down the rear cylinder anymore either...and yes I did do the tune at the dealership (gave 'em a chance)but the guy was lazy and said he was satisfied after 20 minutes on the Dyno, I got out of there quick as I could...so I ordered the dual bike TTS Tuner from Fullsac with his map...installing on both my buddy and my bike shortly

Have heat gun will travel, Just picked up a set of non cat 09 touring pipes from a local dealer. Used, 100.00 cash. I will take a reading when I get up to Pottsville Friday night with my stock cat pipes. I am sending my non-cat pipes out tommorow to Jet Hot. Which I just found out that they are located about thirty miles from my humble abode. 240.00 bucks for the Extreme Sterling service. 7 to 10 business days and will be shipped back to me. When they are installed I'll take another reading and post the results. Now all I need is a decision to what size Fullsac Baffles I'll choose.....................Fuzz

I'm getting mine done too. 48 hour service is 40% more $. I bought a set of 96 CI pipes never used from my dealer so I'm shipping those and will use the standard 10-14 day time from Jet-Hot. I was quoted $210 for the Extreme Sterling coat plus shipping, and that didn't include the cross over pipe. Has anyone got a price on the cross over pipe and the headpipe? I'll be selling my Fullsac cut out cat. headpipe once I get my new one back for those that might be interested in it PM me.

I'll let you know about the crossover pipe. I put it in the box with the header and assumed it was part of the exhaust for $210. Hope they do it.

Just paid $250 for header and crossover with Jet Hot Extreme Sterling. 12 day turn around. Look great, they did nice job coating inside and out. For what it's worth, I am going to take temperature readings before ( factory stock '09 SEUC) and after (SE A/C, 1 3/4" Fullsac, TTS, Non Cat 96" header with Jet Hot, Amsoil.) I will be using a dual input digital thermometer with surface mounted thermocouples and I will measure front and rear header pipes simultaneously while riding. I and also curious about the front and rear cylinder temps and the temp at the cat, which I think might be the hottest spot on the exhaust. I plan on starting this weekend (4/18) and guess I should take some photos.

I just received my pipe from an ebay win and turned it right around to Jet Hot. They will be doing the Extreme Silver coating for me as well.

I'll bet you're the guy that beat my bid on ebay  :bigcry:

Well...  in the long run, it worked out pretty good.  I wound up cutting my header in half and ripping the CC out myself and welding it back together. The learning experience was definately worth it.  I'm lucky I have a good friend who welds  :bananarock:

Now the header is at Jet-Hot getting coated.  'tis all good!

Sorry if I beat your bid but it wasnt done personally to you but I am glad I finally got one. I ended up getting it for 152.51 plus shipping... I cant wait to get it back from Jet Coat and then go get everything tuned up nice.

I had mine "ceramic coated" inside & out. They use a copper color inside & your choice out. I went matte black. "Jet Hot" is a brand name. Just my $.02

Don't forget to call as many of your local HD shops close or near where you live to see if they have any 09 touring pipes laying around.

Sometimes the service dept will have extras laying around in the "bone yard"...  After an exhaust upgrade some folks leave their parts behind.

Mine had a set they uncovered... after I had already done the cut, rip and weld...

Yes, most HD dealers just throw away the replaced 09 header pipes or keep them around for a while.

My dealer has three sets lying a round.

I paid 50 for them and 1 hour of labor.

Great investment.  You should look at the restrictive stock CVO header pipes with the cat.  Yuk

I've finally gotten around to getting some pipes for my 07 CUSE.  For those of you that have coated pipes- What do you think?  How much difference has it made?  Which coating did you get?

Cut and paste the following into your search box on Ebay, and then save it in Saved Searches so you can run it whenever you want.  It will get you pretty much everything but keep out the aftermarket headers.  You'll still have to weed through the listings a little but it cuts out a bunch of irrelevant cr@p.  Good luck!

Powder coating isn't the same as ceramic coating that Jet-Hot does.  My understanding is that the ceramic coating is where you get the heat benefits.

Don't know much about the process but this compnay has done several and they are reasonable and appear to know what they are talking about.  Classic Coating will do either a ceramic or powder.

Good explanation of the difference between powder coating and ceramic.  Ceramic is the way to go.  Can handle temp's up to 2000.  Powder only 500

Installed my non-cat header (jet-hot) yesterday. Install went very easy.
One thing I did notice, was the chrome on the heat shield that went over the cat area was starting to blister.
Fortunately the non-cat pipe I bought came with heat shields so I was able to replace it.

I bet with the cat in the collector area on the '09 cvo touring bikes, it gets really hot right there on the heat shield. I'd think the MoCo would have to warranty the blistering since they put the cat in that adds all the heat on the shield.

I've been watching that one for a while.  It appears to be for a 2009, but the seller apparently doesn't know that.  It has been relisted once.  I wonder if anyone has made an offer...

It's wrong.  It has to be from a 2009.

I was thinking the 2 -1-2 wasn't till ALL of the 09 models. Thanks!
