Title: NuShield anti-glare protective flim for Boombox 6.5 GPS
Post by: motor1 on August 31, 2017, 07:07:33 PM
Just bought NuShield and have questions for those that have installed it:

1) Should I remove the existing screen protector before installing NuShield?

2) I ordered it from web sight part #NU308RA. Is this the correct part number as it lists as 6.3 inches and seems a little small?

3) Any tricks for a clean bubble free install?

Thanks in advance.

Put it on top of the original one, yes it's the right one, and roll it on from the end and push the bubbles to the edge with your finger.

G'day Motor1,

I did the same as King Glide except I used a credit card to remove the bubbles. It works just fine. It's not perfect but it is lots better
Cheers Tom

Orders same, placed over OEM protector, got it on with many bubbles at first, removed it easily, reapplied and were two small bubble, now they are not visible. Seems to make a little difference in sunlight, but only checked in garage, not ridden with it yet.

I think HD screws up on purpose so these after market companies can make money fixing their screw ups, I can't believe no one at HD caught this terrible screen angle design during their testing procedure....if they even have one!!!!! They stopped producing the RG for a year to redesign the fairing, doubt they will not correct this issue any time soon. How about a tilting screen that can adjust to different height riders??? Wait, that makes too much sense!

Hey Harley, you must read these forms, we pay a ton for your product and a ton ++ for your CVO products, how about you all start paying attention to design and function....Indian may be calling me for my next bike purchase, 111 CU engine with all the goodies I have on my '16 SERGU with better radio interface and I can get a decked out Roadmaster for $30,000!!!! That is $10,000 less than your crappy designed Road Glide!!!

I removed the stock protector first ....no good reason to have the extra layer to look through
2) I ordered it from web sight part #NU308RA. Is this the correct part number as it lists as 6.3 inches and seems a little small?
My order of 2.5 years ago was NU068RA for 6.5" diagonal screens". But I believe they changed to what you ordered because the smaller film was easier to install
3) Any tricks for a clean bubble free install?
As others have said, a credit card (or similar) will work nicely to remove or avoid air bubbles. Not perfect but so pleased with results I also installed NuShield film for my speedo & tach
Thanks in advance.

i installed my NuShield yesterday and went for a three hour ride. Holycrap! What a difference! I can't believe what one little piece of plastic can do! It may sound crazy but the colors are more vivid and the screen is considerably  easier to read in all conditions except bright sunlight directly on it. Anyone who is frustrated with the  glare on a Road Glide  needs to purchase one.
Bottom line if Harley put this on from the factory I would never have had an issue with readability.

So did you remove the original protector or put the new one over the top?? That seems to be the main question here.

Thanks in advance

I put mine over OEM, no issues, can't even tell it it there aside from the help with the glare

I thought Trigger-Mans advice was correct (remove stock screen protector) but couldn't bring myself to do it. I have issues with screwing with things that are OEM. Anyway, installed over stock protector and it works just as advertised.
