Title: Garmin 660LM mount
Post by: Chains on June 02, 2015, 11:19:20 AM
Ordered a Garmin 660 LM should be here tomorrow.  Would like to mount in center of the batwing in the field of sight.  Has anyone ever done this with a padded dash?  Iron Aces makes a center mount but show it without the pad.

You probably already know that HD makes the mount to put it on the padded dash, but it goes on the side. Never saw one in the ctr of a padded dash.

The 2012 CVO Softail Convertible had a windshield mount for the 660.  I bought the individual pieces (no kit) and put it on my SEUC3 with a short KlockWerks Flare shield.  Worked great; easy line-of-sight instead of looking to the side like clutch mount.

Item Number      Description          Quantity
6150W           Washer                       3
2467              Screw Hex Socket        3
76000196       Inner Mount Bracket      1
76000194       Outer Mount Plate         1
76000195       Outer Mount Gasket       2
2994              Thumb Screw               2
7118              Washer                       2
73000198        Inner Mount Plate         1
76000199        Pin, Inner Mount           1

Did you bolt it to the windshield?  Do you have a picture of install. From what I can see this will work well.

Thanks

Jim,
You still won't be able to see the screen without your glasses.

Windshield side:

I did this to a Road Glide a year and a half or so ago.  A little notch in the front of the inner with a grommet for the cable.  Was a simple and clean addition that seem a better alternative to the guy that owned the bike than any greater cutting or drilling on the inner for any other fabricated mount we considered.  He didn't want to go with any pod mount.

Thanks Don,

I will see if my dealer has the parts in stock when I'm there tomorrow.

Out of town yesterday.  Yes, bolted to w/s.  If you do this, make sure it's mounted high enough on w/s to allow tilt adjustment--doesn't have much tilt adjust on mine cuz curvature of w/s prevents mounting any higher.
