I have been heel shifting for many years and when I ride other scoots that don't have heel shift ....feels weird to me

I guess it all goes back to what your use to but I am not big on shining shoes so no toe shifting here

jeffj

Yep, couldn't of said it better myself :2vrolijk_21:

Neal, please tell me you're joking here.

OK, let's have a quick course in adjusting the controls to fit the individual rider. We'll call it " make the bike fit you 101 " You losen the socket head cap screw, pull off the lever, rotate it to whatever point clears your boot and then push it back on and tighten the screw.

And use locktite.

As I have told you previously, it is awkward at first but once you get used to it you will not want to do without.

Looks like I'm in the minority, but the heel shifter is gone.

Besides, I slide my boot up under the brake lever, scuffing up that toe. Toe shifting makes sure my boots are uniformly scuffed.

This is my first bike with a heel shifter. I find myself using about half and half. The EZ shift stuff listed earlier sure looks good though!!!!  Where is the best place to get these parts?

Put me in the heel shifter column.  I only use the toe to find neutral.

Later,

Wow People, I am shocked. Maybe it is like the full face helmet for me, I never would have thought I could get comfortable with it but I have. May have to reconsider getting the heel shifter out of the storeroom or better yet sounds like the EZ shift would be the way to try to get accustomed to it.
Thanks for all the responses,
Mark

As most of you guys know, I ride a Dyna.  My feet go to the highway pegs on "take off" so most of the time I heel shift.  It's not the same motion (you guys go down, I go up) but I still heel shift.  Only time I toe shift is when I'm racin'!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Oh sorry .... going no more than 99.9 mph!

your right but if i lift it up enough to make up shifts comfy then its too high for comfy down shifts

Like me.......you just don't want to have to lift your foot off the floor board.  Just lift the toe for down shifting or the heel for up shifting, while the rest of the foot (and the weight of the leg) stay resting on the floorboard.

I used to use just the toe shifter until it was pointed out to me at an AHDRA race that toe/heel shifting is much faster.  Been shifting with the toe/heel sifter through three baggers, and a Heritage, every since.

I had felt/thought that I was faster using my heel to go through the gears those occasions when I wanted to go fast red light to red light, but didn't realize it was proven that you shift faster that away. I also think it's harder to miss a gear when you shift up this way, easier to apply force down w/your heel then it is to pull up w/your toe. Thanks for that info at least I know I've been doing something right. ;D

Add another to the heel shifter column.  If it has floorboards, I'm heel shiftin'
