A few of us will be staying the weekend in Hot Springs AR and am wondering if anyone on this board has suggested routes for a day trip, maybe 250 miles roundtrip, leaving and returning to Hot Springs? It is supposed to rain but we're headed there anyway. All suggestions welcome, but I won't be checking the site after about Friday afternoon May 22 around 3:00 CST. Thanks!

There is a lot of pretty country and a few mountains if you go north on hwy 7. Petit Jean State park, Mt. Nebo, Mt. Magazine state park. Another pretty ride is take Hwy 270 west out of Hot Springs to Mount Ida then on over to Hwy 71 south to Mena, then to Queen Willemina State Park. From there you can ride the Tallihena ride accross the top of the mountain or go back to Mena and take Hwy 71 south to Vandervort, take a left back toward Athens, and Langley.
