« on: November 19, 2009, 07:35:24 AM »

Looking for a route and sights from Missouri to Maine to Virginia, and all states in between want to do all North east states ....would like complete routes,( just roads, maybe campgrounds) we will be pulling a camper and camping along the way....any help appreciated.
I have already routed a route which hits all 17 states, roughly 3300 miles...Only plan on doing this 1 time so I want to do the best I can.......any help/advice would be great

In Virginia definitely check out Skyline Drive & Blue Ridge Parkway. What time of year are you planning on doing this ride that might help for route suggestions.

This may not be the time of year for a New England tour. It would be a lot more fun and much safer in the later part of spring.JMO kb

I think you need to start looking at tourist websites from each of the states you are going to visit, and also post exactly what states you are visiting here.  You may be able to get yourself a list of must-see's together and plan your route based on getting to each of those places that interests you personally.  If you already have some must-see's in mind, post those also.  Once we see where you are heading, it may give us a better idea of what else to suggest that you can go see along your path.  It sounds like you have left yourself ample time to plan this trip well, since you obviously aren't going to try to tackle the northeast on a bike at this time of the year.  It sounds like it's going to be a great ride no matter what route you take.

Hey, we did a 5,000 mile up there last year...went north thru Ohio to Erie, PA then to Niagra Falls for 3 days (very cool place--will go back!).  From there we took back roads thru Vermont and New Hampshire to Bar Harbor, ME.  From there we rode the coastline north into Canada--if you have time you should take the ferry over to Nova Scotia.  Then we went back down to Portland and headed back thru New York on different roads then angled down thru PA and went to Fayetteville, WV where the New River Gorge Bridge is--Fantastic! -- it is on the back of the WV quarter.    Take your rain gear!
