Need eBay advice - no contact from winning bidder
« on: November 04, 2006, 04:07:07 PM »

Had my one-piece, slash-up muffs on eBay along with some other parts.  Auction ended last Saturday night and I sent the winner the eBay invoice.  Haven't heard squat from the guy since then despite repeated attemps starting on Thursday to contact him.  Also, he just joined eBay on October 27, the same day he placed the bid on my pipes.  Should I:

1.) Leave negative feedback (and risk that he does the same to me), or
2.) Move on by sending a second chane offer to the next highest bidder, or
3.) Re-list the item

This is the first time I've had a problem like this, so I'm looking to my friends on this site for advice on what to do. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

The other parts have been paid for and have shipped as per the usual routine.

Send ebay a Non-Paying bidder notification. Depending upon what your ad said and the period involved you can relist, etc. You can also get the winner's information (phone no, address, etc.) via ebay and try that first.

If he just signed up he may not have checked or be out of town too.  Never know, take the high road CVOJOE notes and go from there.

In any event I would relist if no go, rather than calling the next bidder.

Brian

I did what Joe advised. I had 1 guy that I didn't hear from and had to wait like 7-10 days before I could act. They notified him and he returned message to them and ended up paying me. May work out that way for you. My guy was new too and think he just didn't know what to do. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Good luck Bro! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I had to wait 3 days to get a response from the seller when I bought my trailer.  I'd give the guy a couple of days to respond.

Thanks for the responses, everyone.  It has been 7 days almost to the hour, so I just began the dispute process.  I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again!

I was involved in 2 seperate deals on Ebay where the winner did not respond. After 10 days on both items the seller contactede me and asked if I would pay the last bid for the item. I'd give him the 10 days then act.
Good luck B

You have 90 days to leave feedback. If you decide to leave a negative the are odds are you you will receive a like feedback. What I have done in the past is wait the full 90 days (right down to the hour, I use an excel spreadsheet to figure the time) and then leave the feedback. You still still risk the chance of getting  a negative but the chance is slim. Don't bother leaving a "neutral". I did this twice and all it got me was a negative.
