Hey, in all seriousness now, I have not been a fan of the black leather Deuce bags. They are kinda small and they are not detachable. However, if I ever plan to get past the borders of the Northeast (Gotta meet JC for lunch sometime ;) ) I'm gonna need a bit more storage than my sac-rack bag.
What do you think, if you look at the straight black paint lines on my bike's rear fender, the bags should be lets say "Less obvious" or "less obtrusive" or might actually blend in? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
The rear wheel gets covered up significantly, but I think it might look OK. Comments please.

Hey psycoduece,
I was in the same boat when buying the new hard bags for my Screamin Eagle Wide Glide2.
-
Whole right side
-
Last one from the rear. Thought it looked too wide, but have gotten used to it. AND, it holds more than you think due to the rounded top cover.
-
Thanks buffy. However, the hard bags do not fit on my bike. Only the black leather Deuce bags. They, I think, are a bit smaller than yours. Did Harley do your bags or did you have someone else do it?
-
psychoduece,
Mine are H-D bags, but I installed them (pretty easy), but I saw a set of hard bags on a 2003 SE Duece at a H-D dealer that was painted gold & black to match the scooter. They LOOKED like V-Rod bags! AND, they looked GREAT!
Sorry I didn't have a camera with me or I would have given you a peek.

what about a backrest and luggae rack? i dont know how hard it is to take them on and off, but you could use a removable soft pack ontop of that combination [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Hey Naitram, you know when I read your reply at first I never saw the link to your bags! I do have the small backrest/sissy bar and luggage rack installed on my bike. Just today I got on the HD website and newly added to SEDeuce accessories were two soft packs designed to sit on the pillon and use the backrest (that I have) as support. I don't think they are as tall as your bags though (I finally saw your link and viewed your set-up). Your set-up doesn't sway at speed? Nice and secure?

Psycho I consulted my resource and he doesn't know of any "hardbags" that will fit your bike aftermarket and HD definately doesn't make them. He will not tell me what they're working on but if my perceptions is right, they are. It's hard to read perception in emails! lol

Psycho (and all others with the 04 Screamin Eagle Deuce) I got some preliminary information on the hard bags for your bike. They are working on a bracket so that the Deuce hard bags with lock, will fit on the 04 SED. It will be a little longer, but they're working on it. The bracket for the 03 will not work because of the wider tire.
-
Thanks JC. I guess I'll just chill a bit on the bags issue. Seems it's that way with many things on a new bike--takes vendors some time to gear their aftermarket stuff to the new bike. 8)
-
Psycho the brackets for the 04 SE Deuce hard bags are already out. They are brand new and I don't have a part number, so you may have to wait for your dealer to get the information on them. Or, you can have them call HD now. Good luck.
You'll have to get the hard bags painted to match, but any good body shop should be able to handle it.

The paint should be able to be bought from the dealership (you'll need your vin #) and then ask around about body shops that can do trick stuff.
I'd start by aasking the dealership if you can order the bags color matched, from the factory. Because you can order the brackets now, you may be able to order the bags (similar to the tour pak for our bikes) already painted. If not, somebody at the dealership can probably refer you to a painter that can handle it.

I was in the local HD dealer this weekend to get some odds and ends and I put the Black Leather Deuce bags up against the blue/black CVO deuce in their showroom. It looked OK. I'm gving it some more thought.
Had my 6-yr old with me and she remarked "What are you worried about Dad?" "Well, how it looks. Does it look OK?" She replied, "Daddy, you're only worried right now because the bike is so new. Once it gets dirty and you have been driving it around for a while, you're not gonna care as much. I would just get what you think you need right now, because you are gonna put it on later anyway." I know! And the thing is, she gave it some thought (you know how you can see people thinking sometimes) and then said it in such a matter-of-fact manner and she's ready to move on--conversation done-- "OK, take me to Build-a Bear at the Mall now Daddy." And I'm thinking I gotta beat myself up on this a bit more! [smiley=wall.gif]

[smiley=7.gif] And this is because she knows you so well......or because she's already got the human specie figured out? [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif]
You know, your supposed to have at least 12 years or so of your kids thinking you know it all. At about thirteen they of course have it all figured out. My kids give me that look now! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]
