Going to replace my lifters this winter before they turn into a problem. Prefer S&S, but want to keep stock pushrods. I am certain that this site can me fifty plus stories of adjustable pushrods that have gone thousands of miles without a problem (and I would not doubt it). I just prefer the simplicity of stock pushrods. S & S website shows adjustable pushrods required. Can anyone recommend equally good options from another manufacturer that will let me use my original pushrods? I’m going to have a heads off anyway to do some additional work so it won’t be a question of my time or labor when I do this.

You can use S&S lifters with the stock 1-piece pushrods, no problem.

All the lifters I'm familiar with will work just fine with your stock pushrods. They are made to a standard in order to fit the application. As long as you don't mind taking the extra time to remove the tank and the rocker covers to use the one-piece pushrods, you do not need to buy adjustable versions. And btw, the one-piece rods are lighter than adjustables and you don't have to worry about locknuts coming loose or other failures that occur with adjustable rods.

If your concern is simplicity than really should use adjustable push rods. 1- you just cut the old one out install new lifters and adjust. Stock push rods you must remove the tank, top of engine valve covers and rocker shafts every time you think you have a lifter issue. With adjustable push rods you don't have to do any of that. Just remove tube,loosen push rod and remove. Saves hours of work and expense. Just saying

X2. The only way to go unless there is another problem that requires disassembly.

This is from the S&S install instructions. This was my concern. Not sure why the instructions say adjustable.

If you want to use the type with the internal travel limiters then use adjustable pushrods to set the plunger clearance exactly to S&S spec.

You don't need the lifters with travel limiters. Just order the regular ones.

The limiters will probably be of no advantage to you but if you are going to use them it will require adjustable. If you use the S&S without the limiters the stock pushrod will work. If the plan might could include some other engine in the future the adjustable could be handy

Thanks for the input. I think my question was answered as long as I don’t get lifters with travel limiters I can you stop pushrods, exactly what I was looking for.

If interested, I have a set of WFO Larry's lifters. Brand new, never used. Part # B-2313SE. These are his best lifters. They sell for $150. You can go to his full site to read about them. Sold my bike, no longer need them. If interested, let me know. Thanks, Dave
