Road Racing Duo

Just got this little tidbit from the SEMA show in my Hemming's e-update.

This is a pretty slick way to go if you are a road racer or wannabe one.

Two for the (sinous) road

Toyota and motorcycle maker Ducati teamed up to build the Tundra Ducati Desmosedici concept.
Bunches of neat concept vehicles make the scene every year at SEMA. Some of them actually see production. If you’re a bike guy, you’d likely enjoy seeing this one, just unveiled in Vegas, join the list. Ducati and Toyota locked elbows to generate this toy box, the Tundra Ducati Desmosedici.

Wild looks aside, the bike truck is heavily stock based, with a 2009 Tundra CrewMax as the starting point. Toyota designers extended its frame so that a 6½-foot bed could be fitted. The flip-up bed sides reveal compartments for an onboard toolbox and other storage. Other extras include a powered, retractable loading ramp and, aptly given that it comes from the Prius folks, pop-up solar panels for auxiliary power on site.

What kind of site? In the vision of the creators, track days, given that this crimson custom Tundra was created as a companion piece to Ducati’s newest treat, the Desmosedici RR, the world’s only MotoGP cycle that’s fully street legal.
