Leaving on a trip May 29, don't know my route yet. Just now it will be to the South West US. I might be meeting with Geezerglide June 12 in Phoenix. We are going to try to go to the South West GTG June 15 to 17, I should be home by the week of the 20th.

Bill

As you know, It looks like Art will be join joining us.

OK, revised route a bit.  Care to have a look see and let us know if this looks like an improvement?

You're getting there Jim...

However, I'm wondering if I missed something in a prior post here... Is there a particular reason why you are going so far east to North Dakota?  :nixweiss:

Unless of course one of your favourite movies is Fargo!  I think you could cut a little more out of the east and not have to subject yourself to a long boring ride.

Thanks Grizzly - we've been told that we should visit the Badlands, and the T Roosevelt NP.  That not a good idea?  :nixweiss:

Don't know if you have time but just south oh marker 14 Little Bighorn is the Bighorn Mountain Range. Bighorn Scenic Byway is a great road.

Jim

I think you might be refering to the badlands east of Rapid City (http://www.nps.gov/badl/index.htm) , I've travelled much of your route west of Minot & there's f@#k all out there!

Jim

I stumbled upon the Roosevelt NP by accident years ago and it was a nice surprise... But certainly not worth the long drive you'll have to get there and I've been through the badlands a few times, but I was going right past them so it wasn't out of my way.

I think your time will be better spent touring Wyoming & Montana etc. as mentioned by Brad.

Again, just sayin'.

Thanks Bungy - good input! :drink: :drink:

We had the "other" badlands on our original route, but needing to cut miles, we cut the S. Dakota part.  Bear in mind you went to these places though, and that's how you found there to be f@#l all out there!  ;D  I've never set foot in either of the Dakotas, and if I don't visit them ever, I'll always be left wondering!  :pepper:

But the route is still very much draft, so plenty of room for revision.

If you do make it to Roosevelt NP don't miss this. http://www.medora.com/where-to-eat/?Pitchfork-Steak-Fondue and http://www.medora.com/musical/ both are fantastic.

The Badlands near Medora are enough Badlandsto see.

Just wondering if it's a good idea, on the Banff to Jasper part of our route, to take the 1A from Banff (the Bow Valley Parkway) to Lake Louise, which looks to be around the first 30 miles of the route, instead of sticking to Highway 1 (the Icefields Parkway) - it runs alongside the Trans Canada Highway, rejoining at Lake Louise.

Ditto taking the 93A instead of the main 93 for the last 12 miles or so before Jasper?

Any locals there got an opinion?

Another query, if anybody can help - the run from Kamloops into Vancouver.  Stick th Highway 1 all the way, or is it worth switching to the Loughheed Highway (Highway 7 I think?) from Just north of Hope to Vancouver?
