Was doing a CVO search and stumbled on the following website. Warning, there are some really graphic pictures, especially if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. Looks like some of the riders with full protective gear didn't fare any better than those riding w/o gear. This guy's message is that you are a dumbass if you even ride a motorcycle. I bet you could find a post of automobile accidents or plane crashes that would make these pictures look tame. Guess we shouldn't fly or ride in a car either. Worth a look, it will make you think twice, then again you can fall out of bed and break your neck!!

Ace,
          Good post. Never understood why ER nurses who see earthquake,landslide, fire, gunshot, auto accident, and every other manner in which human beings manage to mangle their bodies seem to only remember the motorcycle accidents.

There does often seem to be a weird perception that motorcycle accidents are somehow elective or suffered because of the riders own willingness to put himself in the position of having an accident on the bike.  Have heard the same type of remarks for accidents involving racers on the track, sky divers and that kind of endeavor.  Rather than a legitimate form of conveyance we still have are given the impression of something purely recreational and, therefore, when getting beat up while doing it that impression seems to carry through to somehow thinking it's at least partially our own fault.  

When I hear it I don't pay any attention.  Trying to explain woudln't accomplish anything.  But it is a common impression that's held by those that haven't made the effort to think it through.
