There has not been a post here since November 1, 2011.
You guys don't chat much.
Just thought I might be able to stir the pot and get some action going.
I think it was Chains that ended up with Brad Pitts' V-Rod RG. I've thought a lot about that same thing, making a bagger out of a V-Rod Muscle with the dual sided exhaust. I ride a '09 SERG and the thought of a great performing water cooled V-Rod dresser is enticing. I think at the next HD test ride at my dealership, I'll put the wife on the back and take a Muscle for a ride and see if it will pull our fat butts around without too much strain on the revs.
Enjoy your V-Rods.

I though the same thing yesterday. It made me wonder how many vrod cvo were made. Guess I'll do a little research. I would really like to see the entire forum get a little more active.
-
Correct me, but I think they were only made 3 years with a total production of around 5000. That would be a pretty small flash-mob if everybody showed up!!!!! :nixweiss:
-
I still own my 2005, 1 of 800 made in this color and only 2400 of this CVO model in 2005. 3 colors were available, Blue, Red and Orange. So not completely dead but close...

What does that tell us about the Revolution motor? The darn thing must be rock solid bullet proof, if not everybody would be on here complaining. I have not heard otherwise, has anyone else heard of reliability or endurance problems? I believe the MOCO is missing the boat by not pumping up the displacement and adapting this motor into the Touring line. The cynic in me says that they don't want to sell something that the customer does not have to spend more money on at the dealer in order to get it to run properly. Wouldn't a smooth running and cool 140 horsepower with 120ft.lbs of torque in an Ultra from the factory be a gas? I wouldn't care if it made no sound at all.

+2...for the bump.

I saw two red 05's for sale at local dealers in the past week.

Okay, I'm out of this thread too. Sold my V-Rod 2 weeks ago.

O no Ed, don't leave us.
Did you get something else?

Oh, no! One of the old timers callin' it quits! :o :( :'(
-
Whoa now there! Not leaving at all. Lots of things going on this pass Summer, some good some bad. The bad made it necessary to let the V-Rod go. But as with most things timing is everything, worked out another deal and will be riding again in the Spring. No more V-Rod's though not enough room for comfortable 2 up riding. Moving on the something bigger.

Thanks Ed.
Good luck in what your up to.
Hope to see that new bike soon.

They only made the CVO Vrod for two years...'05 and '06. They made a Vance and Hines "edition", I think in '07, but it was not a CVO, though it had nice paint.

I had the 2005 blck and orange missed it so much, have a 2012 night rod ,never any problem with either
-
I still have my 2008 105th Anniversary V-Rod. Bulletproof, it's my 'go-to' bike when the CVO bagger is in the shop.
-
2012 Night Rod Special here. Love the bike. I told myself i would not turn it into a bagger, wanted a stripped down toy. but currently in the process of installing FLH bags. Have also told myself i would not install a RG fairing so far i haven't really considered it. hahaha. The revo motor is great just not enough torque produced in its current trim, but it's not a torque motor, RPM and HP is whats its about. had to learn that for it to be happy it needs RPM'S. hahaha
-
Picked up a new DX last year and loving the bike. Like all harleys but this is my favorite at the moment.

" but it's not a torque motor, RPM and HP is whats its about"
For sure. They love to be spun to 9 grand. Friend has one with the Roadglide kit, I'd love to have one. The motors are solid from what I hear. Know a guy in a international club that has over 100,000 miles on his, never adjusted the valves.

Very true, have one of my freinds took one on a Demo ride and told me he did see what all the "fun" was about it. I asked him was he in a led group or by himself. he was in a led group, I laughed, he never got it over 4 grand. I let him take mine out for a spin and that changed his mind hahaha. I did install a shift light, I always seamed to be bouncing it off the rev limiter :huepfenjump3:

" I did install a shift light,"
:2vrolijk_21: They should come standard from the factory on those bikes.
-
I would be very interested in a large displacement V-rod style motor in a CVO RG. It might be a real competitor for the Honda GW. Smooth, quiet. reliable and powerful in a true touring frame and dressing.
-
2013 Muscle here. However, I'm trading it in for a CVO Road King. I want to be able to travel a little more without pulling in for gas all the time. Not to mention, not having a sixth gear for highway cruising. However, it's still an awesome bike.
-
Just got a 2016 Muscle...hope to get the site more up to date. :drummer: :drummer:
-
Sorry...didn't mean to mention the Muscle...I also got a 09 Ultra CVO.
-
Considering 2017 is the last year for the V-Rod we will soon be hearing nothing but crickets here.
-
The Vrod is aftermarket is in Europe/Austrialia mostly(body kits, turbos, superchargers, bars etc). so I don't think is will die as quickly as bikes like the buell support did. there are still US guys like Fitzgerald Motorsports that are Vrod parts and engine builders. Hopefully the Revo motor will make a come back in a bigger badder version in a few years. I just picked up an 2003 silver 100th anniversary edition with 12k miles, one owner, it needs a good cleaning and some basic maintenance but still screams to 9k rpms. Might become a Rod Rod just for fun and my 2012 will get the supercharger that I want for a street beast, hahaha.

Saw one of the original silver ones on the road the other day with a windshield and some leather saddlebags. :2vrolijk_21:

Silver, Windshield, Leather bags Check, but its an 03 hahahaha, wouldn't mine having an 02 and a 17 just to say I have one of each, oh and a Street Rod, one each of the CVO yrs, and the 07 #'d Vance& Hines edition, and a Destroyer just to round the collection out, hahahaha.
-
Sorry guess I should have said one of the early ones. Didn't mean to imply the 1st year

You ain't kidding about a dead group in here! Another bump-up after 2 years, lol. The rest of the site seems pretty slow at times too, can't say I've contributed much for a while either. I guess everyone gets busy with life in general sometimes ...
