Antenna Concepts hidden antenna
« on: February 27, 2009, 01:47:00 PM »

My dealer is now carrying these. I've heard good and bad about Dakota and Tune Trapper. Anyone know of these folks or have experience w/ them? Thanks.

"The HA-1 Hidden System is an active antenna that out performs  the 50-inch factory antenna, while being hidden in the front fairing. " I would be interested if that were true too! Would like to hear some reports.

Most of the local dealers will only install the Antenna Concepts Hidden because the riders are very happy with them. You can talk to a live person if you have a question or trouble installing it, try that with the others.

would be curious also.  I did the dakota digital on the 06 RG and it sucked.  I would drive 10 miles out of town and no radio, thank god for satellite.  I am trying the tune trapper this time and will see how I like it, but again probably won't use much with satellite.  I am waiting till get bulbs, Hawg Wired speakers and amp and all other goodies to do it all at once so I don't have to take fairing on and off and on and off so much.

Dont be fooled here, aerials need to be in the clear to work effectively especially at vhf and above, im a radio ham and know what im talking about, higher the aerial is the better it works, hidden aerials will have lobes and gain in weird directions

There are several threads on antennas if you want to do a search.

The Dakota Digital and the Tune Trapper work fine for both Terrie and I.  I know it's supposed to have to do with the location inside the fairing as to weather they'll work or not.

Jim (hd-dude) installed ours and a number of other members from Nor Cal.  I believe he's commented on it several times, if you do a search.

I met a dealer at HD 105th last year who has the same bike as I and he said that he uses a marine hidden antenna that you can purchase at your local marine dealer.  I figure that I would try the next time I remove the fairing.
Cheers!

I put the marine antenna in both of our bikes and have no complaints. It's actually an antenna cable attached to a long pice of plastic "tape" intigrated with a squiggly wire that sticks to the inside of the fairing. Works great for us

I got one on ebay awhile back.  Think I paid about $25 for it. :nixweiss:
