Picked one up today.  Tour-Pak® Brake Light/Running Light/Turn Signal Conversion Kit Part #69200042.  Anyone else tried one yet?  Also picked up the new retractable tether for the Tour-Pak. (BTW it is NOT compatible with LED lights on Tour-Paks)  Also NOT compatible with Air Wing Rack LED Light Kit(which I had installed and was not mentioned in the new instructions).  It still functions as a running light, but not as a brake light.  There is one lead missing from the new conversion kit that would be necessary to make it function as a brake light.  I'll keep working.  Anyone else installed this yet?

LED King Tour-Pak® Brake/Turn/Tail Lamp Kit  67931-11 & 67932-11
Since this kit is available in September, maybe HD will make another kit for existing LED Tour-Pak conversions.

I ordered my kit 67931-11 should be here Tuesday, has any one done the removal of the 09 tour pak light? Whole lot of white glue back there.

I don't know about the '09, but I removed the light bar on an '08 Ultra tour pak as part of my bike repaint project.  The white stuff is RTV silicone sealant.  I used a hair dryer to loosen the silicone, and a flat blade screwdriver and putty knife to get through the silicone to free the light housings, removing silicone as I went along.

Someone here removed the light bar in an attempt to install the previous version of the LED light bar only to discover the earlier version didn't cover the hole cut-outs for the OEM light bar.  I don't recall if he posted how he removed the light bar.

I remember that post, but this new light bar is suppose to cover the holes. Do you have tio remove all the RTV? AI see two metal bars that is slotted to the light bar. Once I heat it up and remove then RTV I'm I to remove that bar also

I bought one yesterday.  Right now my TP is off, will install once I put it back on.  Instructions appear simple enough...

No, it's not necessary to remove all of the RTV.  The metal clips are wedged into the light housings.  IIRC, I used a large flat blade screwdriver and rubber mallet to tap them out of the housings.  The SM isn't clear on the RTV or the metal clips:

From the '09 HD Service Manual:

"Remove caulking from around light bar.
Remove four flange nuts and metal clips to free light bar
from Tour-Pak."

Here's a picture of the '08 Ultra tour pak I dissassembled prior to paint; you can see that not all of the RTV silicone was removed:

Is it just me but  I'm having a problem with the wiring for this light. :nixweiss: My tour pak only have 3 wires in the harness . The new LED have 5. None of the connectors match, this is not plug and play. If I have to engineer it work I will, but I want plug and play ( :D

I'm having one heck of a time removing the RTV sealing the lights on my 09 FLHTCUSE. Heating, cutting, scrapping and almost swearing hasn't got the job done yet. The whole assembly should push straight back to remove right? Do I need a bigger hammer or what? Trying to take the exsisting light bar along with the new one to the painter. Then the next thing, getting silver paint to match. Then ... from what I read here ...  comes the electrical challenge. Oh H-D why do you put me through this? I can't afford a new bike!

Trey, I picked up the installaton instructions at the dealer today.  They aren't very good based on a quick read.

That said, it appears you disconnect the Ultra light bar connector from the tour pak harness (the three-wire connector that goes into the tour pak) and you don't use that tour pak harness for the LED light bar.  Instead the LED light bar uses a connector for the LED wires that is then connected to a long harness that runs to the rear lighting connector (under the seat/atop the rear fender).  This is an oversimplification since you have to assemble wires in a couple of connectors, but the point is the LED lights get their run/brake/turn signal from the rear lighting connector under the seat, and not the regular tour pak harness currently used in your tour pak.

As for removing the OEM Ultra light bar, apart from the metal clips and nuts that must be removed, the only thing holding the light bar in place is the RTV silicone and it's a PITA to remove around the light housings to free the light bar from the tour pak.  I've done it twice on two different Ultra tour paks to have the light bar painted to match the tour pak and it doesn't get easier with experience.

Okay what a work out in this non a/c garage. Finally cut through that RTV, dame I just use a blade and a screw driver. Took the new LED to the painter, now I'm going to change and paint it typhoon maroon instead of the original ruby red. The wiring for 09 and earlier / check this out 7a is the fender connection while 10/11 is by
the left side cover. I drilled a new hole for my harness and used then the grommet that came in the kit. Too many wire in the left and right hole already. That is as far as I got, just have to wait until the painting is done.

Ok, finally got enough of the RTV removed so that a bigger hammer actually worked. I'm so glad I wasn't paying H-D to do this conversion but when it comes to the wiring I may have to give in. Off to the painter.

Trey, congrats on the installation; looks great with those bright LED's across all three panels.

So how much time would you estimate it took to get the old Ultra light bar off?  And how difficult were the wiring tasks required for the install?

Carl, since that was the first one I did I was all a%^ and elbows. The (I sheet) was very poor in it's directions compare to past (I sheets) on more difficult installs. Cutting that RTV away was a pain, my buddy painted it for me in a day. This was the first time he ever said pick it up tomorrow and it was ready tomorrow  :D. Hey beggars can't be choosy  :bananarock: I would say the next one that I do if I didn't have to paint would be 4 hours. But this one I started on Tuesday worked Wednesday and finished on Thursday . If it wasn't for this forum and the help you get from everyone I was still be in my hot garage  :confused5:. Having a service manual in very important now a days, did you notice that the drill bits they want you to use are metric sizes now  :nixweiss:

Install of the new LED lights on the Tour-Pak is finished  ... but I will remove again to seal previously existing holes. (once I figure out what to use) I'm very happy with the new look. (Got to be honest here, haven't hooked up the wiring 'cause I've been for one of you "smarter than I" people to figure out how to make the luggage rack light work as a brake light too.) Guess I'm really not finished am I.

Had mine done by the dealer, I have a detachable tourpak so I had the tech deal with the wiring  ;D so far so good i like the fact that my blinkers can be seen. I've been asking hd for 7 yrs, "why doesn't the tourpak lights have blinkers"  :huepfenlol2:
