Wait a few days...I am hearing Hawg Wired is coming out with a new system that will have at least 6.5" speakers for the front batwing fairing (it's about time...I am not replacing stock 5.25" speakers with...you guessed it... another set of 5.25" speakers no matter how good they are!!! There are too many good 6.5" speakers to choose from and I am sure Hawg Wired knows this! :) They make some great products but right now they are behind when it comes to speaker size!

Remember...size is everything (don't forget...so is magnet size)!!! :D

What size are the lower fairing speakers on the 2011 CVO FLHX?  And does anyone know why they don't have a tweeter? Thanks.

There are separate tweeters mounted in the two lower 2" gauge holes in the inner fairing.

If you are thinking of a new head unit and you use an iPod or iPhone, check this out...saw one the other day and for a Sony product, it looked interesting...check it out. Notice the iPod/iPhone goes "inside" the unit...no wires attached to the head unit, no iPod/iPhone hanging on handlebars/tanks etc. Check out "Additional Images".

This is a whole new world of scooter mods for me. I'll be watching this thread for ideas on how to spend more money.

I knew I didn't have a fairing for a reason.   :-\

Unless you only plan to ride around inside your garage, you really need to make sure any replacement head unit is waterproof

I am very appreciative of all the replies.
Right now I am "leaning" towards the new J&M 7.25" speakers without the amp. I don't see any need for it but I am not an expert.
I'm hoping to see/hear other speakers at Bike Week before I make my final choice.
I will post my choice when I get back.

I just finished changing the amp & speakers in my 2011 SESG, I used the new ARC 125.2 BX mini amp & put 6.5" Alpine coaxials in my lowers & Alpine 6.5" components in the fairing & I think it sounds pretty good. I had everything torn apart before I decided to upgrade so I don't have a good comparison from stock. Living in Iowa I can't take it out for a road test either, not quite yet. But when you are tuning that ARC amp, when you switch that BX bass switch on & tune it you can tell a difference, also this new model has a fan for cooling which should help things out under there...now just can't wait for the snow to disappear...

I am awaiting the release of the upgrade kit for the FLHXSE2 from J&M that will have 7.25 speakers for both upper and lower fairings and a 500W amp.  I just got a note from John at J&M today. I pasted it below.

The J&M 7.25” fairing speakers are in stock ,,,,,,,,

The 500w 4-ch amp will be released on/or about April 15th ,,,,,,,

The 7.25” lowers speaker kit will be released on/or about April 10th ,,,,,,,

Very sorry for the delays ,,,,,, see    for complete details ,,,,,,,,
