The Cycle sound lids come with the grills. You do not use the speaker grills provided with the speakers. I am putting in polk audio marine grade 6x9 speakers. You can install any 6x9 speakers in them.

Does those spkrs. have some form of 'protective covering' on the backside to protect them from objects in the saddlebag, or would that not be a concern?  spyder

The RF T1682's have a large magnet and substantial frame.  I'll need to exercise some care when carrying a lot in the bags to avoid puncture damage from a sharp object, but I seldom carry anything that would damage the speakers from puncture damage.  The J&M speaker kit doesn't provide any special protection.  The HD's use a plastic basket to protect the bottom of the speaker, but it too has many small openings that could permit a puncture.

Yes the Cycle Sounds Speaker lids come with unpainted grills.
