Once you prove out this fix, you might want to contact the company that made those kits to let them know you finished their engineering and testing for them and they need to compensate you for your efforts.

I was just thinking the same, Jerry.  As this is a known problem (obviously!) why don't they include these?  A few cents worth at worst. First ride today since the fix, and I'm pleased to report that at long last, my radio is perfectly listenable to again!  :orange: :orange: :orange:

Jim, went to the shack, not too bad. Got a total of 10, two different sizes for $15. Whatever I don't use I'll return. Gonna give it a whirl next weekend.  Thanks again, I'll report back when done.

Jerry, I'll be sure to send another email to hemrick in regards to the previous correspondence  about the melted reflector that he never got back to me on. And I will also tell him how to possibly improve his product for those that have radios in their bike. I'm in no way anticipating any kind of compensation, just don't want it to be received with an attitude like I'm the problem. I am very happy with the look of the product and Clark was very friendly when I had a question about the plugs not mating to the HD harness without brute force. I got it all to work, but months later when I noticed the burnt reflector and contacted him he seemed concerned and told me he would research a metal reflector to replace what I have (presumably at my cost, but whatever), but that's the last I heard from him. Sent another email maybe a month ago about the reflectors, no response whatsoever. I'll report back on how this one goes if it even goes...

Thanks Pete - looking forward to your report.  It's certainly worked perfectly for me!

OK guys here's a twist on this problem. Two years ago I upgrade the stereo in my SERG. Pulled out everything and went an Alpine IDA x100M, Hawg wired amp and speakers in the fairing and JL audio amp w/ Focal speakers in the bags. This winter I upgraded the lights. Originally was going to go with Kuryakyn driving lights but then decided to also upgrade to HID headlights. The stereo and the driving lights worked great together but once I added the HIDs everything fell apart. With the HID in I went for a ride to test out everything. I didn't even get out of the driveway when the problem began. Heard a squeal from the right speaker, the right signal wouldn't work, the stereo stopped working and the flasher wouldn't work for the bike alarm. I've tried several combinations to sort things out but nothing works. In the end my Alpine stereo is fried, I bought a new one, and the HID have been removed. Everything is working now so I suspect the HID were the problem.
Any suggestions???

Same solution I think!

I see you're in St Albert - rode up there to visit my cousin, who lives there, in 2010 while on our Rockies tour.  :)

Had HID and Dakota Digital hidden antenna in my 04 SEEG.  Have HID and Tune Trapper in my 10 SESG.  Jim (hd-dude) did the install on both.  I do remember him telling me at one time that the trick is to have the antenna routed/mounted as far from other metal as possible (and still have it in the fairing).

Not that I listen to FM that much......it's usually XM or CD.  However, there are times that I switch over just for something different.

It helped, but when I put fairing back on my reception really goes to crap. I have a tune trapper and IDK if its because of chrome windshield strip being right on top of it or what, but when fairing is on its weak. I did notice that the ferrites worked with the HID passing lights. I don't think the HID headlights were causing interference as when I clicked on passing lights the reception substantially dropped. After clipping them on it didn't seem to drop reception anymore. So maybe next in line is that HD powered antenna  :nixweiss:

Yep, it was the 100% cure for me, because I use the stock tourpak mounted antenna....  Any inside-the-fairing antenna is going to be rubbish, with or without HID...... :-\

Yea, I removed pak, added amp, HID lights, and trapper antenna all at once so I'm sure there are many issues along the way. It did remove the static that the fogs produced though.

I am afraid you are out of luck.  The HID's use an AC frequency to excite the bulb and that is probably what you are hearing in the radio.  The close proximity to the ballast is the biggest problem.  You might try relocating the ballast or the antenna to try and see if you get better results.
Has any one had this issue with the LED Truck Lite Phase 7s?

You shouldn't have any problem. There's no external ballast to cause any rf interference. I believe that with the LED everything else should function just as it did with the old incandescent lamp. Only much brighter light output.
