Not surprised this has happened.  Am surprised it's not happened before.

Electronic throttle controls aren't new; at all.  They shouldn't be a worry on a bike.  Remember it being discussed here and know it was discussed among other friends as well that Harley coming it with its electronic throttle created a lot of discomfort.  The company just hasn't proved good at "new."  In just the community here there have been enough confirmed reports of some type of throttle control issue to be a concern.  Translate that to the larger riding community and it's not been an at all seamless rollout for the HD throttle control system.

we had those issues over here too - but it was never reported a bike went "out of control" because of the electronic throttle.

With the hydraulic clutch we had (smaller) accidents in 2009 (the 2010's are just arriving over here and didn't hit the road as of yet) - but the 2008 FLHX has conventional clutch.
