Title: Respring wire connection
Post by: ltank on August 13, 2018, 05:21:05 PM
My ignition switch is intermittent and I want to remove the wires to respring or increase the tension to make better contact then reassemble. How do I remove the wires from the black connector?
Thanks

I did place a small flatblade screwdriver into connector to release it and I bent the contact area on terminal to increase the tension that makes contact with the terminals on the switch.

My switch worked for several hundred miles then started to screw up again. The Female connectorson on the plug 72207-94  of course they are on back order at dealer and other sites. I really hate having an intermittent problem that can kill bike at any given time. Usually the worst place / situations.

Realize this may seem an extreme bit of hoarding or preemptive inventory; but it's saved my bacon (or at least a considerable amount of time) a few times over the years when messing with my bikes or others.

I've got a decent sized box of cast off harnesses.  Other people's junk.  Stuff that was cheap on eBay because no one wanted it.  Just spares.

Handy way to have the odd connectors or terminals you won't easily or quickly find anywhere.  Especially if you happen to find yourself working in your own garage at midnight sometimes a little in house inventory is a godsend sometimes.
