Was on a last leg of a 2 day ride when a girl bumped me from behind at a stop sign. Wasnt enough to shake me off but moved me slightly forward. I couldnt see any body damage but appears she hit my left Rinehart muffler. No dents but slight paint on the muffler edge. I searched closely for any other damage but none. When i installed the muffler i made sure both sides were even eye balling it but now left is slightly off pushed in about inch maybe more. Before i start taking it off, any thoughts of what other damage i might have? Sucks...thanks

Check underneath at the cross over bracket and make sure its not broken, there has been a few that had broke without being hit, if your muffler is knocked forward an inch, it could have broken that crossover pipe mount or bent the crossover pipe.

If you're sure you're not filing an insurance claim against the company of the person that hit you feel free to repair, disassemble or anything else you might wish to do. If you're filing a claim, however, don't put a wrench on anything that wasn't necessary to get the bike home. Doing so opens opens up a potential debate what the insurer might or might not feel obliged to cover.

Yes, that has been on my mind and reason why im hesitating taking anything apart aside from visuals. I'll have to figure that one out, thanks

If you were rear ended, file a claim with her insurance company. Even if there is a scratch on your muffler, they will replace it I'm sure.

File a claim..

A couple of years back I was also rear ended. The original estimate for repairing the bike didn't include replacing the exhaust, because it didn't seem to be damaged. Once they started working on the bike, a hairline crack was noticed in the exhaust. It was then added to the estimate. So you could have a small crack and not see it until you take the exhaust off your bike.
