Title: D and d m8 exhaust
Post by: Gandrtravis on April 06, 2019, 06:01:13 PM
Was talking to my local Harley dealer about getting a d and d 2-1 for my 18 cvo and they claim if I run the Harley tuner I’ll have warranty but they claim if I run t max their is no warranty seems to me you could just switch the ecm and exaust back to stock and get warranty. Need some opinions on what I should do I like the look and sound of the d and d but don’t want to void my warranty.

In a nuttshell if you flash with a non HD tuner they will know. I can't off hand remember the specifics of it. I am sure others will chime in with more details

There has also been posts about folks having their bikes flag through the computer system

TTS leaves you with the option to return to stock

So if I stick with hd tuner they will still warranty it ? I don’t care as much about the power but would like some more sound outa my bike.

That is correct and I certainly tested that out on the 17 that Harley bought back from me..

Have been contemplating going that route as well doing fullsac and tts. Only thing is I like the look of the d and d and they sound good.

I have D&D Boarzillas on my 12 Roadglide with the S&S 124 and it sounds amazing IMO. On my 19 Roadglide I out TAB mufflers with the Zombie baffles and the stock headpipe with the cats in and that also sounds amazing IMO. My son thinks the TAB's on my 19 are louder then my Boarzillas. I don't agree but that shows you how loud they are even with the cats in. I also personally think I like the deeper sound of the TAB's more than the D&D's though to me its like picking between a beautiful blonde or brunette. Lot depends on my mood and previous liquor intake but overall love them both

Have seen a few sound clips of the tab slip ons and the cobra neighbor haters and was wondering about maybe doing slip ons and not worrying about voiding warranty. Wasn’t sure it would be loud enough with the cat in tho. A few extra hp would be a bonus but mostly looking for some sound.

I also bought cfrs foe my cvo rk but then when I did other mods gmr 113 kit ended up going back to fullsac header and 2.25 cores so not sure I want to buy slip ons and end up swaping them out again. Honestly thinking maybe do fullsac kit with tts would be cheaper but the d and d sounds good and I think they work almost as good for power. Down the road id love to do a 124 or 128 kit after esp is over and payments are done.

So just a FYI that I had seen video clips on both of those also but always thin k video clips are not accurate. I have seen video clips of stock exhaust before that made them sound good so stopped paying attention to all. Was stopped at a place that many guys stop up in the local. mountains when a guy pulled in with a 19 CVO Roadglide like mine but sounded loud and great. I started talking to him and asked him which head pipe he used when he told me it was stock. I was blown away and ordered the slip ons the next morning! Guy from TAB did tell me that the Zombie baffles and neighbor haters were the loudest slip ons in the market.
Maybe its my imagination or the sound but seems like the bike is running stronger as well

The D&D will outperform most pipes, I'm sure there are a few exceptions, I don't know of any though.

Cool Springs did a number of D+D VS Fullsac MX with Chrome Works mufflers dyno pulls in this video. We held our own pretty good on horsepower and made better TQ curves in several of the comparisons. I was honestly surprised because I don't target peak HP with my headpipes. I am always searching for the early low end TQ at the beginning of the curve. Touring power!

Hey Steve, how would you compare the TTS cams to the 4 in this video?

Hey Steve, how would you compare the TTs cams to the 4 in this video?

To be honest, I have never tested or had interest in any of the cams in this video. I personally know how much time Steve Cole has spent developing his line of cams. His pile of test grinds would amaze you. He is obsessed with beating everybody else. As far as a bolt in, I believe the TTS150 would go toe to toe with any of these. Not coincidental, many of these cams have suspiciously similar specs and results.  Anybody can change it one degree, call it their own and Andrews will grind it for you.

Great video and good to hear how well the MX pipe did! How do you think those Chrome Werks would compare to your 2.25" Baffles? Looking forward to see when they do the higher lift cams as well.

Steve,

It was really great to see how well your head pipe does against the D and D, as many claim that is the best pipe for the M8 touring bikes.

Cant wait until the repeat this test with higher lift cams.  Should be real interesting.

In this comparison of exhaust systems, the greatest difference of all was never even mentioned? That would be DB level. In this area, we have the lowest DB level combined with exceptional power.  For me personally, having to wear ear plugs to enjoy my "Touring" motorcycle has never been an option. That's why my company has never sold a 2-1.

Very true, they did not talk DB level.  I much prefer the mellow leave of your head pipe and baffles.  I preferrer to hear the music and not wear ear plugs.
