Title: A new Marine!
Post by: SBB on April 06, 2007, 07:48:43 PM

A few months back we sent Nancy's son to Parris Island for boot camp.
We brought him home today!
We are so proud of him!
We will have him for ten days and he's back to the Marines.
He left us a young boy and we brought home a man, a Marine!

:2vrolijk_21:

Did I mention we are so proud of him!

Outstanding!!!!! Uh Rah!!!!!

That brings back memories. :2vrolijk_21: Nothing like a few months on Parris Island to make a man out of you. From one Marine to another he's looking good.

Ask him did he take care of my sand fleas while he was there. :huepfenlol2:

Pride in your son.
Pride in the Corps.
Pride in your country.
Now that's something to be proud of!

In case you happen to scan this yourself; Marine, the pride others feel for you is earned.  But it's the pride you've learned for yourself that's of the greatest consequence.  Stand brave and come home safe from wherever duty takes you.

Chip,
As a graduation present from boot camp, you should get him that custom Fat Boy done up in the USMC paint scheme.  ;)

We are all proud of your son, and all the sons and daughters joining in these harsh times.  A lot to be proud of!

And yes, my husband and I firmly believe that every young lad and lady could learn a lot by going through boot camp. Thanks for enlisting Robert.

Semper Fi Marine, tell him to hold off on buying an HD till he gets his first duty station orders. The HD overseas buying program will literally save him thousands. Gunny sends

Congratulations on the new marine.  The graduation ceremony at Parris Island is something to see, we went for our youngest sons graduation several years ago.  He just got out, which makes his mom sleep better since he won't have to make another tour, but we are very proud of him and all of the others that serve by their choice.

EVERYONE ... thank you very much for the congrats and best wishes!!  I have been in a whirl wind for the past 2 weeks and haven't been on the site to acknowledge you all!

Chip was right ... we sent a kid to Parris Island and brough home a man.  It is so amazing ... I hardly recognized him!

The 10 days that Robert was "home" passed soooo fast.  Yesterday, at 030 hours (that's 12:30 am), he caught the bus to Jacksonville, NC for 21 days of intense combat training.   :rifle:    Then he'll be off to Missouri for 9 weeks of MOS school.   :policeman:    I think letting go of him this time was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.   :bigcry:    Probably because he's not my baby  :baby:  any longer  ... he's a man ... WOW ... my job is done!   :2vrolijk_09:

The Silver and Black Sporty the Skippy referred to was being considered for Robert but he has his heart set on the Marine Special Edition Fat Boy.  And that's okay 'cause he just didn't look right on that Sporty!

Anyway, thanks again everyone!

And ... did we tell you how proud we are of him?   ;)

Congrats again.

I can remember the day my Mom and Dad dropped me off on base for my first day of OJT after coming home from basic.

All fond memories now, but I recall just how tough it was on Mom.

You know he'll do fine and I am sure he knows just how proud you are of him.
