Title: 2010 CVO Convertible is gone
Post by: Mr. Wizard on September 12, 2011, 04:40:29 PM
Well guys.. Wifey fell in love with a Street Glide, can't blame her...

We did sell her '10 ConV with the Fullsac Prototypes, Fatboy Shield and 7" head light for 25K. It was gone about a month after it was advertised on CT.

You guys that are talking about turning in your '11's for less.... the '10's are for sale in the upper 20's (27-ish) Trading in them in for a huge loss just breaks my heart.

hey, Wiz,  you're right that they are probably selling in the upper 20's.  A thing for the average seller to remember is (at least in washington state) if you trade in, if you only got 22k for a trade, the savings would be almost another 2k that wouldn't have to be paid in sales tax.  that brings the realized value up to 24k. You got 25k so the difference would only be 1k and their bike could be turned right away.  Not many dealers are going to trade for your bike if they have to sell it (to make a profit) at a real close price to what they are asking for a new one (newer model as well, with no miles, etc).  Sounds like you were able to turn it quickly but a few years back I sat on a 4 year old pickup truck for 3 months waiting to sell it outright and ended up trading it in at the end because it just hadn't sold by the time the new one came in.  But I did get the added benefit of about $1600 that I didn't have to pay in taxes.  If one waits too long to sell their own, in this CVO game the new one could definitely be gone!   Now that wiffey doesn't have it any longer, will we still see you now and again??   Pork.

Thanks Pork

I'm familiar with the process but I paid cash for the other bike. I didn't have to pay sales tax on the purchase.
