Infotainment: Setting Source on Bike Startup
« on: May 05, 2015, 01:47:57 PM »

How do I setup the infotainment to go straight to USB when starting the bike.  For some reason when I start the ignition it immediately goes to the WB.

Did not know it was setable.  Mine goes to FM??  Thought it should go back to whatever it was on when turned off.  Following responses and maybe learn something.

You can't really set it to the USB or iPod to start up with, let me clarify this, you can set it to either of these, but the problem is, while the system is starting up and reading the files it reverts to the WB (if you have this on) because it takes so long for the iPod or USB to start, that it basically decides that it is not available and reverts back to the next media option. You can try turning off the WB and seeing if it will stay with the USB, but it may revert to AM or FM. One other option that may work, is have a very few songs on the stick that you are using and this way it can read them and start up before it decides to time out.

Unless they make changes in a future update to the way the info system boots up, you may not ever be able to get it to start on a heavily loaded iPod or USB device, I usually shut it down with XM playing or FM, this way I can have the WB on and not have my system start up with it playing, since FM or XM will activate before the system decides it's time to go to another option.

If I recall...it goes to what ever was when it was shut off....even to the playlist on the Ipod.

Mine has been working that way most of the time. Hell, I'm impressed that it picks up the ipod right where you left off instead of reverting back to the beginning of the play list like my '11 did.

It's hit or miss at best.  I have my WB turned off and almost always have my USB on when I turn the bike off.  About 50% of the time it starts on the USB....the other 50% of the time it starts on Sirrus.

Once I turned weather band off, mine goes to the source I was playing when I shut if off 90% of the time.  I'm almost always playing the iPhone USB music.  There are still times it goes to radio instead, but not often.

Does it matter if you turn the ignition switch off first or the start/run switch?

CVO only has start run switch.  There is no ignition switch, its purely electronic.

Funny you mention that Dave.  While I was at service today I had two different people try to turn my bike off with the fork lock switch.  The service writer and final cleanup guy.  Did not give me a lot of confidence in their work if they did not know how to turn off a CVO after Rushmore CVO's have been out a year and a half.

Well it is a hard habit to get use to not turning the switch on the dash.  I have tried more than once to turn it off like that, especial if I rode one of my other bikes the day before.
