looks good  :2vrolijk_21:                                                                          (There's another 10 HP in just touching up the heads and bumping the compression that was less than advertised.) TR can hook you up when your ready

I wanted to send the heads to TR in a bad way after I saw the machine work on the valve seats. Ran out of time.

Yes Roadie, this one is going to Ouray with us. Its finally out of the dyno room back on the lift to finish up a few details. Long miserable dyno session on this one. Had issues with the knock sensors not giving any data above 3750 RPM. Its a 100 degrees in Havasu, every test ride this thing was pinging its guts out. Had to pull timing the old fashioned way a little at a time. 75 dyno pulls later running great, zero ping. Just need to bolt the lowers back on and machine up a spacer so the elbow on the Heavy Breather will clear them. One last test ride, load it up and get to work on the Rubicon. We are stopping in Moab on the way up to run a few trails. Gotta get warmed up for the Alpine loop on Wednesday!

I think you'll have more fun in Moab.  The Alpin Loop is more about views and a little less about four wheelin from what my brother has told me.

Steve what rear shocks is that?

Nothing wrong with good views. Been wanting to run in that area for a long time.

The shocks would be Progressive's latest hi end offering. Just got em.  :2vrolijk_21:

Can I get more info on the spacer for the Heavy Breather Steve?
Are you using the regular or Elite Heavy Breather and where / what type of spacer are you fabing up?

Thanks, Rick

is there much difference from a performance standpoint between the standard heavy breather filter and the compact one?  with the compact filter, there is just enough (about 1/4'') clearance for the lowers to fit.

Hey Rick!

I have the original Heavy Breather with a shorty filter. The spacer was fabbed from 1/2" aluminum plate. It moves the elbow out allowing the filter to be pushed back over the neck and clear the corner of the breather bracket. I opted to shorten the neck as well but you can actually just shove the filter further on with out cutting anything. I don't believe any of this is necessary if you don't have speakers in the lowers. The short filter is suppose to clear. Not sure about water pumpers?

Skratch.

The last dyno pull I made was pulling the filter off while it was running. Zero difference!
I have even dyno tested the rain socks!. Undetectable as well.

PS- I'm sure someone will notice. That orange breather hose is a temp. I don't roll like that.

Thanks for posting the photos Steve, should be a fine running bike. Think I would have changed the lifters while apart.

thanks for the dyno info.  i didn't know that you were running speakers in the lowers, with those even the shorty filter doesn't fit (without mods).  i'm not running speakers, so no problem with fitment.

fab up a few of those spacers, and i'm sure you'll be able to sell em in a heartbeat with the folks who want to run a heavy breather and speakers in the lowers...

Thanks for the very detailed info and pictures Steve. I'm gonna try the Elite on the water pumper, if it doesn't fit then I'll be doing some fabbing, lol.
