kind of like me when I almost lost the bran new bike trying to back up into a spot at the Biker restaurant and started the turn to late!
a call for a "little help" came quick

If there is one thing I have learned about motorcycles after 45 years of riding its "never say never".

Sorry to hear about this Alan.  It's kind of like going down.....if you ride much it's not a matter of "if" but more a matter of "when?".  I'm sure those that have rode all their life and ride 20k-30k a year have at some time or another left their cap sitting on top of the gas pump.

But I'm thinking we need a "follies" thread where we can all post bone head chit like this that we've experienced.  We'll let Dayne66 start that thread.  :bananarock:

Just sent you a text a few minutes ago asking if you want some company on your ride today. :P  I'll pick the bike up, you deal with the youngsters. :huepfenlol2:

Here it be

Amazing! Place is called "The Hat" and just about the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had including New York which I know is a hell of a claim.
Not good enough to go through that though but I guess as has been said, could have been way worse.

Love 'The Hat"

Sorry to hear the story but glad you are Ok as well. Those little things always get to me more than the big things. Especially when you know better.  I wonder how I ever survived to this old age! I don't; think I can get my bike up either. I have picked up a 700 lb bike but not this one. I don't want to either. I sure as he..ll am not going to put it down to try to pick it up!. Isn't it great the way people help out nowadays! I just don't get it (again old age I am sure)!

What you did was amateurish in the world of stupid.  If I had more time, I'd tell you how I wound up in the ER with a split nose, caused by the spade of a shovel, while I was trying to change out the pedals on my bicycle.

Sorry that happened to you. What I do is take one glove off lay it on the seat then lay my gas cap on the glove. I can't get back on until I put the cap back and put my glove back on. :drink:

Thanks, been a hell of a fight and riding my bike has been huge for me since food was not only "my enemy", it was my passion which I have replaced with my bike. I definitely have that obsessive personality which now is "all in" with my bike. I used to go ride and stop every hour to eat somewhere, now I just keep riding..

Great write up of a cluster f--k. :D :D :D

We pulled into a gas station and the wife was on her bike behind me like every other time and i heard a crash to look around and and see bike on the ground and her four limbs up in the air like a dead possum. She forgot to put the kickstand down and did pull a hamstring. She is ok and the bike has a bit of rash on the underside of the saddlebag.

The day before that i pulled the gas nozzle out for a look at how full it might be and did not let off the trigger. At least a quart of gas to the tank and seat.

As a update, this moronic me is costing me a fortune. Ended up going with the Wild 1 14 inch Reapers that they came out with a few months ago. Of course since I had to re run the wires anyway I got new heated grips since I did like the grips that are on the new CVO Road Glide and since we were running wires, I got the new Daymaker LED foglights for the crash bar. Yea i understand running wires through the handlebars have absolutely nothing to do with running wires through the crashbar but since the bike "is down" and we were running wires through something I figured... It really is a sickness!

Hey Allan.    Glad your ok.  The bike will be all better soon.   Glad it wasn't worse that what you went through.   Good luck with the fix.   Stuart.

Thanks Stuart, hoping to be back the road next weekend. I have to admit that misery loves company and it makes me feel better reading some of the other "stupid moves" people have posted. I guess sooner or later we will all have some story..
