I got over 4k on my dunlop AE's 180/55-18 rear, 130/70-18 front, on my touring pig and I really like them so far. Still got 8/32 of tread left on the rear, I've been known to get her up to speed on occasion.  :drink:

Michelin has been in the "building phase" for over close to 2 years. I gave up on them and put on AE's.

Michelin guy told me they were working on that tire @ Daytona in 2011 when I needed one for my '09 SERG. I wasn't interested because I do like Dunlops but he was at Millers and saw my bike and offered his opinion.
Here we are 5 years later and still no Michelin from what is being said here.

Same problem here. I ended up with AE's and they handle great! One problem is the front is out of round and won't fully balance. I have called the seller, Direct Cycle Parts, and no reply to email or call. Machine says they are taking orders but are in South Dakota so I tried that email with no results. Looks like I have a problem! I'll get Visa involved next week.
I'm headed out for a trip next week so ordered a replacement from the local Kawasaki dealer!

Almost forgot. As soon as I ordered the AE's, J&P emailed that they had the 18" Michelins ready to ship.

$100 cdn difference in price...the Michelin is more.
Isn't the AE the same as the HD tire...just without HD on it? If it is.....I don't want it....it'll cup at 7-8000km again.

no, it's different.  at least the tread pattern is.  not sure about the composition.

Just put the AE's on about a month ago before my 3,700 mile trip. No signs of cupping- I'm pretty excited about that. Handled well in both dry and wet- no complaints at all.

I run the Avon Cobra AV72 180/55/18 Radial. Also the matching front they don't make for SERG so I run the AV71 V-Rod 120 on the front. Great tires in the wet and the rear alone is 6 lbs lighter than the Dunflop.

The Avon Cobra wasn't designed for the Harley Touring models and has a lower load rating.  If you knew that and decided to do it anyway it's fine by me, but I don't think you should be recommending them to others who may not realize they are not suitable for the bike in question.

I've seen too many Metzs fail on other folks HDs to ever consider putting them on my bikes.
