Fullsac 2” cores & mats, still quiet?
« on: July 04, 2018, 12:43:00 AM »

I installed the Fullsac mx pipe, 2.0 cores, tech mat, and an air cleaner (and tune) last night.  Idle sounds louder and lower but still pretty quiet overall.  Will removing the techmat give it some rumble? Or do I need to go to 2.25” cores?  Or do I need to ride it so the techmat settles in and gets louder?

Big is louder but the mat is keeping the noise down

Do you want it louder? If so, just remove the packing and it will be louder. If that doesn't work for you then get the 2.25" cores. I've found that over time they get louder as the packing starts to compress and be less effective. Not sure where removing the packing does to the back pressure.

I like to hear the radio at 80mph.  I like the 1.75 with the techmat. I have a friend that I ride with that has the 2. 25s.  He loves em. No techmat.   I don't think it was available when he he did his.    Try that you might like it  Stuart

I’m going to pull the techmat out and see if it’s loud enough.  It’s dad’s bike, I like the sound, he thinks it’s too quiet, I think he might need hearing aids.  :nixweiss:

Worst case, I’m buying a 17 CVO SG on Friday so I can take the 2” and order him 2.25” cores.

Have him ride it for several hundred miles and then decide. After having LOTS of really loud exhaust systems on aggresivelly built bikes I too thought the sound (with exactly the same system) was kinda wimpy in comparison. But I gave it some time and the extra performance down low and sound quality is great for me. JMO

I just installed the 2.25 Power Cores and tech mats.  You really have to hear it in person, the You-Tube videos do not do them any justice. It is markedly different,  louder and deeper rumble.  anything more aggressive and I would have trouble listening to the radio.   I am very satisfied with this set up over stock, it was much cheaper than any decent after market slip on, and easy to do.  I will also mention this is with a stock header with the cat installed.

I too installed the same in my 2018 cvo street glide, love the sound as the deep rumble really sets it apart from all the louder, rattle exhaust you hear nowadays. My hand me down bike with RC exhaust that my wife now rides is almost rude or me aging rapidly.  :huepfenlol2:

I installed the 2.25 cores with Tech Mat on my 18' Streetglide CVO and it was still to quiet.  Took the Mat out and it is better but should have saved for a while to buy full pipes like I had on my 14'

If you just want noise, go with Thunderheader.  If you want performance, stay with your Fulsac 2.0.
