Heated seat on a 2017 FLHXSE
« on: October 16, 2018, 09:57:07 PM »

Hi all. I picked up a ‘16 RG CVO heated seat last year with the aim to wire it up on my ‘17 FLHXSE.
Finally got around to picking up a wiring harness kit #69201599A. RG CVO seat #52000225
Kinda thought this would be easy-peasy, but it’s not working out that way. 4 pin Connector plugs on no problem, and has 2 wires coming from the seat.
First issue is the the usage of the pins. Don’t match. Black wire lines up ok, but red wire would need to be repositioned(?)
On the bike side of the plug also has 3 wires (solid black, red/blue stripe & violet/blue stripe). (Seat plug- only 2: black & red)
I’ll do some testing tomorrow and maybe can figure this out, or maybe not!
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Bob F

So I’ve been able to answer this myself. I looked into this closely today. Got out my Fluke meter and determined that the violet/blue striped wire is a switched 12 Volt source. Black is the ground. By using the wire harness supplied in the kit, it turned out to actually be a “ plug ‘n’ play”.
The violet/blue striped wire mates up to the red wire in the seat plug. Black goes to black.
There is another wire in the plug, but just ignore it.
I now have a heated seat!!
