Turn Signal Issues
« on: May 03, 2019, 12:04:00 PM »

Need a little guidance...Right rear turn signal bulb is going out while riding (vibration?) when its in the garage it works but when I am riding it goes in and out.  I've replaced the bulb so I don't think that's the issue.  When I take the cover off, the bulb is tight but if I turn it to left slightly it comes back on but it won't stay in that position.  Has anyone else had this problem (04 SEEG)?  Do you think maybe the contacts are pushed down and maybe need to be bent back up slightly?

A known problem is the pigtail, the contacts get hot and will slowly sink into the insulator, only way to fix is pigtail replacement.

Thanks for the reply, at a minimum that sounds like a PITA and expensive.  So what am I looking at here? I prefer to do my own work so how involved is it?

The entire socket assembly is only $30.00 new undiscounted.  Part number is 68905-00.  You don't have to take the light bar off the fender to change it either.

Thx Twolane, I will look into it. Headed out for a week-long trip next Monday so I need to get it ready to roll this weekend.

^^ If that's all the problem they can be had in a universal replacement for a few bucks at most auto parts stores.  I've messed with a few that corroded in the part of the socket assembly where that pigtail resides though.  So just to be safe I just assume I need to replace the whole thing.

So I’m looking at it and there doesn’t appear to be a bolt or screw holding the assembly inside the housing so how does it attach?  Does the rubber grommet around the outside hold it in?
