Tips from anyone on hotrodding my 03 H-D truck ?
« on: March 18, 2007, 04:16:11 PM »

After much ado in regard to whether or not I wanted to keep my 2003 Ford H-D F-150 Supercharged Supercrew I have decided I have a better truck than anything currently being sold. Also, FoMoCo in spite of being on the verge of bankruptcy would rather reward someone who's never owned a Ford than a lifetime Ford guy like me. No cash back, no low interest rate deals nyet, nada, nothing on a 2007 Ford F-150 H-D model. $45,000 with all the bells and whistles and it's a motor only 5.4 no supercharger. Soooooooo  I'm keeping the one I've got which I've started calling Chip after our good buddy and site bro Silver/Black.

What I'm looking for is advice on the most bang for my buck in getting some more omph out of this truck. According to everything I've read about it. It is 450 ftlbs of tq and 340 hp as is. I don't know if that's engine dyno numbers or rear wheel numbers. I do know it's no match for the Ford Lightning or even close to the Dodge like 103tHunDer's got. So, what can I do for under $2k to get me a little more ?

Thanks

I wish it was a Harley, but Dodge dropped that connection a long time ago, but it does go like stink.

Big B, the supercharged F-150's are no slouches either, buddy!  And, from what I've read about them, they respond well to simple bolt-on mods, kinda like a Harley motorcycle.  Also similar to a Harley, for $2K, you're probably looking at the simple stuff first like intake and exhaust mods, along with an ECM programmer, or re-map of somekind.

That is the same powertrain as a Lightning, isn't it?  You may want to check out one of the Lightening sites, in addition to the ones already mentioned above.  Good luck!

Well, for under 2K you can do the basics, exhaust, A/C, and reprogram ECU. But if you had more $$$$$ Roush makes a nice supercharger and other goodies for the F150.

That name is fine, as long as you realize it can't remain stock and carry that name.
Change the pulley, the exhaust and an aftermarket ECM and you will bump up a hundred or more.
Do that and this Chip will be fine with that Chip.

As you know, "A man can never have too much horsepower".

OK Chip for now I'll refer to it as Chip Jr.

And yes Brian it's the same powertrain as the Lightning.

From what I understand the only difference on the Lightning is the blower pulley being smaller which gains it another 40hp to 380 vice the 340 I've got.

I'm thinking of doing the blower pulley change, Magnaflow exhaust. K&N cold air kit and re-program of the ECM and see how that feels.

Damn, I just put a set of new Goodyear Eagles on it.

B B, the three things you mention made significant improvement in my SRT, but the addition of cams and headers made the real difference.

BB,
"Pittsburg Power" is owned by a guy that was instrumental in the design of a fuel system that makes the Power-Stroke Scream.  I have the Fuel System he designed for the 60 Series DDE, on my Western Star Tractor I transport the Race Car with.  750 HP!!  It will flat-out fly!  I have the information in my office, if you're interested.  Please advise.  Later--HUBBARD

Hubbard,
I have a 5.4l Supercharged gas engine in my truck. Roots type blower I believe. Supposedly 450ft lbs and 340 hp. I've heard it's not hard to get it to 500 hp. Is Pittsburg Power diesel only or do they do both ?

I will trade you an 06 50cc scooter for that truck.
Since it's a Chevy I feel that would be a good trade.
Well ,,,, let me check the values and see if you need to give me some to boot.

Damn
I talked with Nancy.
We have to much fun with the scooters. Can't let them go. (I was gonna trade hers for that Chevy)
How about a complete 05 Screaming Eagle Electra Glide stock exhaust system for that Chevy and we can call it an even swap!

Don't take advantage of me, if you feel you should throw in a little to boot!

I got good news and bad news :nixweiss:

Good news, bring that title cause I waxed those take off pipes.

Bad news, I sold the title to the pipes to buy some bolts for Maude!

Everytime we ride together something falls off the ol girl and I get to work on Maude.

Dale from Wheels thru Time called me the other day to see when Maude was going to retire.

He was looking for an antique dresser!
