I get 180 to the tank.. that's it. Momma is the official mileage/gas guage watcher. She's saved me from walking more than once!  :2vrolijk_21:

When my 'gauge' says "Half tank", it's got about 1 gallon left.  I get 32 - 42 MPG, depending on certain conditions, but I start sweating at 150 miles on the odo.  Got in the habit of looking at the 'gauge' as I pull up to the pump, then seeing how many gallons I put in, subract from 5, and slowly I'll develop some kind of a guide.
My old Road King gauge was nuts on; I could predict how much gas I was going to pump in. That was nice.  Wife's RK is as useless as mine, but she gets 38 - 45, even got 52 once.

Well When we were runing aroud MV this year with the group myself and WI George our bikes were on E and we kept passing (with the group) places to stop but we kept going until everyone got back to the host hotel ( a very long and windy road with NO pull offs if we ran out)  and then we dove into the shell station and I put in 4.9 Gallons. Thats as low as I've been and my needle was Pegged on (Beyond) Yes it goes lower than the mark. (Beyond) E for the last 10 miles and the low fuel light had given me a slight sun burn :)

Now I watch my lite as soon as it come on I head for Fuel  :coolblue: :nervous:

All this talk about the "Friggin' Gas Gauge" reminded me of a feature that the Zumo has. You can set a predetermined mileage (how many miles you get per tank) in it, and when you get close to that limit the Zumo will let you know that you are getting low on fuel. It will also have a gas pump icon that will pop up and you touch it and it will let you know where/how far the closest gas stations are. This is a much better warning system then that little low fuel light that our bikes have. Have I said how much I love my Zumo today? ;D

It works. :2vrolijk_21: Comes on within 25 - 30 miles of your preset mileage and will stay on until you reset it. When I fill up I reset it along w/the trip meter.

Sounds like to much ability for human (my) error.  I'll just stick with the idiot light for the idiot and try to remember to reset the tripmeter, I'd always forget the Zumo thingamajiggy anyway.

I guess this would be a reason to keep an uncomfortable seat on the bike, with my barkolounger I never get TB anymore on the long runs. :huepfenlol2:

It's a lot more noticeable then the idiot light. Also as soon as you started back up after refueling you'll get the low warning signal and the fuel pump would appear again so it should remind you to reset it.
