Push rods Q's
« on: June 11, 2008, 03:26:21 PM »

Looking a push rods for my 08 cvo 110.  So far i really like the look of Zippers pro tappers p/n 403-088 my question is do i have to have new tubes? Zipper's is telling me with these push rods i can use my stock tubes no problems. All the other Adj. push rods brands tell me i need new tubes.

Thanks

Why are you changing pushrods? :nixweiss:

You doing new cams? Otherwise I'd leave the HD 1 piece PR's alone. If you're doing cams, S&S makes a set of good adj PR's with new PR covers, as a set. ;)

I was told if you go with the adj push rods it saves time in labor $ when having to remove the pushrods during whatever maint you are having done.  When I had the fueling cam backplate done I opted to keep the one piece PR's.  When I did the cam change recently I opted for the zippers tapered, they cut the down tubes ( I think) then reinstall everything.  Ride safe!

I am using S&S adjustable pushrods - new covers comes with the pushrods as a set.  These are what Wes Brown at Cycle Rama uses on his motors and is what he recommended I use on mine... :2vrolijk_21:

The Zipper's are probably the stoutest but you have to remove the rocker covers and arms to install.  They are not a true quick change.  I have the S&S pushrods (the ones you have to remove the lifter blocks to install).  If I were doing this today, I would buy the new MOCO tapered pushrods that came out in March.

With these you don't have to remove the rocker boxes??

With the S&S quick change pushrods, you have to remove the lifter blocks, but not the rocker boxes.  With the new MOCO tapered quick change pushrod, you do not have to remove the lifter blocks or the rocker boxes....
