2004 SEEG Forks
« on: September 08, 2008, 07:56:20 PM »

Been having a problem with too soft of a front end. The bike has 52k on it and has been a problem for a while. I had an independent change the fluid a couple of years ago and it helped for a while and got soft again. I changed it this spring and it was good for a couple of thousand miles. Then it went to soft again. Just changed for the third time this year. Left fork fluid is still coming out black. Right leg is clear just like it came out of the bottle. It's still not right. Any suggestions out there? Been using SE fork oil. My buddy did his 2005 SEEG and is still saying his is too stiff. Time for a rebuild on mine? Thanks. KB

Regarding fork oil, the stock(7w) is too soft and the SE(20w) is too stiff.  I run 15w in both bikes and like the compromise.  While I'd love to do the traxxion, fork oil is a lot cheaper.

Roadrunner-  I have the Traxxion forks and they recommend new seals/rebuild every 25,000 miles.  I would bet they will go farther than that....

Will Traxxion sell the rebuild kit or do they require doing it on site?

I've got their rebuild kit here.  So know they'll sell those.  If memory serves they won't send out parts to do their original installs.  Only they or one of their trained dealers.  Wouldn't do most any good anyway as there is a bit of massaging to the original parts to make it all fit.

It's not cheap.  If deemed affordable though it's a great change to the front of the bike.
