09 Road Glide Headlight Trim
« on: November 03, 2008, 06:41:06 PM »

Just had the Super Nanna apart for XM, Garage Door Opener and Speaker Mods. Thought I should take a few picture of the new headlight trim bezel. It will retrofit to any Road Glide. It is a bitch to get the top tabs popped loose without damaging the paint. I waited until I had the front off and popped it off from the back.

The ONLY problem I see with the new [awesome looking I might add] headlight trim piece.... it'll be bug city in all those cracks & crevices.  Not looking forward to that!!

Sorry to hear it comes off so hard. You're right, bug city and hard to remove. I don't like it!

Cool factor exceeds the bug factor that is why I put one on my 09 RG.  I never did like the bubble on my 03 RG.  This is a far better

Any idea how to adjust the head lights? When I had mine apart to install the new speakers I looked for a way to adjust the headlight aim but there doesn't appear to be anything without totally tearing the place apart, any ideas?

It is done from the backside, reach down along your forks while sitting on the seat, there are hex head adjusters sticking out through the back of the fairing (or close to it). I can snap a picture tomorrow as it may be easier than trying to explain it.

You don't need to take anything apart.  There are two 4.5 mm hex nuts on the inside bottom of the inner fairing, facing the rider.  Check the owner's manual.  Turn both clockwise equally for up.  Left or right requires you to turn the two nuts in opposite directions.  You can't independently adjust the two lights, however.

You don't happen to have the pn for the trim do you. That has always been my biggest compaint on the RG's, getiing water behind the lens and then popping it off without breaking any of the tabs, I have th ecycle vision one with built in turn signals right now that was a huge problem but it still gets the moisture problem.

Gang, one thing to note here is that the SERG has hardened headlight housings that are designed to deflect stones, bugs, etc.  The older RG's headlights will crack, which is why they had the clear plastic dome protecting them.  The part number for the new Bulb Housing Assembly is 73242-09 ($72.98 ea).  You can get them on Chicago Harley's site for $58.38 + shipping.
