Harley's new air horn
« on: March 04, 2006, 06:38:37 PM »

Has anyone tried and or heard this air horn.  It was recently listed in their parts catalogue? I am looking for one piece and loud!

Premium Air Horn Kit
Sit up and get noticed. This Premium Air Horn is one of the loudest motorcycle horns available. The compact design has the compressor attached directly to the horn assembly. This eliminates the need for separate mounting of the compressor and air hoses. The horn features an integrated chrome cover for a stylish look. Separate purchase of a vehicle specific mounting kit is required.

There was discussion about this horn on this thread: Latest new parts release from Harley, but I think consensus was it didn't really appeal because of the compressor sitting out there in the open, and not being chromed. You may want to consider the High Output Horn for Touring Models which puts a second horn inside the fairing. You can read more about it on this thread: Installed the high-output horn.

I've been kicking around several ideas for a better horn since I bought the bike (the stock horn barely worked at first, tightened connections and mounting, then it worked but not loud enough to startle a nervous cat at 10 paces).

I did the air horn from Rivco Products:https://chretien.genwebhost.com/~rivco1/store/index.php?id=1&parent_dir=223
Took me about 30 minutes to install, while talking and having a beer or two. Rated at 128 decibles, it sure scared the heck out of a couple of buzzards having an afternoon road kill lunch the day after I put it on. Plus woke my butt up, wasn't expecting it to be so loud. Not to costly, easy to install and works well. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
