Effects of Wheel Size
« on: August 20, 2011, 10:00:45 PM »

How does wheel size affect handling...or does it? Reason I ask is my new RGU has 18" wheels...plus lower profile tires...and it seems to handle much better than my previous 09 SEUC. Just wondering...........

My sense is that relative to handling, there is a relationship between the center mass (near the axle) and the total mass at the circumference; bottom line is that the greater the circumference of the assembly, the greater the impact on handling. I believe that is why the tire mass on the larger diameter OE tire and wheel assemblies has been reduced; the 18” tire MASS is less than the 17”, and the 19” is less than the 18”. My sense is that for high speed operation, the 19” Screamer wheel is somewhere near a reasonable limit; JMHO.
