Joe, I have no doubt the Dealership will do everything in their power to make it right.  They have always done Donna and I right.  I have never had a complaint with them.

Humm... need to take a closer look at the head covers... I washed the bike not too long ago, but to be honest, can't remember looking at the head covers.  The rest of the covers came out clean and nice and black.  Used some mild degreaser that was safe for painted surfaces.

I have not had a chance to wash mine... but I can see what you guys mean.  Look at how mine look..again, those are dirty, need to see if a good clean and some Pig Spit does the trick.  Will report back tonight.

Any updates from those that took their bike to the dealer?

The dealer ordered in some special cleaner so the next time I bring the bike in they are going to see if it does the trick. I am not very optimistic about the outcome. Also I don't think it is heat related because the cam chest cover that the exhaust almost touches is perfect. I will update you all when I know more.

Anybody have any updates on this? I just picked my skunk up from the dealer after the first service and he took pics of the smoky black covers to send to HD. He agreed that the gloss black should not be doing this. Cam and primary covers are okay. All the rest are a little "cloudy"

I waxed the skunk yesterday.  The motor heads look glossy again :-*.  I used Meguiar's Car Cleaner-Wax.  Didn't have to go crazy, wipe on, and wipe off.  Check it out, thanks.

I also have the problem with the clouding on mine. I think that this is a problem that Harley will need to deal with. If you have to clean off the haze it makes me wonder what is causing that to happen? And is the powder coat going to last? And why is it doing that? I think they should have black chromed them. They have chromed those parts for ever and it has stood the test of time. So I guess the real question is what is Harley going to do about this? Time will tell!

IMO it isn't a Harley issue, the end user needs to clean the bike. The powder coat isn't peeling or bubbling. Chrome isn't any better by a long shot, chrome peels, pits and rusts regardless of how much wax you put on it. With 5 bikes in my garage the powder coated ones are the easiest to maintain. A little wax and off you go. Black chrome absolutely sucks IMO. Black chrome shows every thing in regards to wiping marks then add on the pitting /peeling (It sure does look good new though) maybe that is why it never really caught on .

That looks good.  :2vrolijk_21:

I'm going to go look at what I use on my wheels. I was cleaning something on the bike one day and overshot whatever it was and got the spray on the powder coated wheel. When I wiped it off the wheel was super shiny, I'm thinking it was something along the lines of Armor All.... I'll go look.

Same here... wash and dry, then some wax and the covers look just like new.  :2vrolijk_21:
