Yikes! This stick apparently vibrated loose and resulted in oil blowing out all over the pipes. Stopped and pulled it out to see if anything had come loose on the stick itself but all was tight. Replaced and headed back out of town. Holiday traffic resulted in stop and go heading out of Rye AZ to Payson in 100 degree plus weather. Bike started getting hotter and you could tell the heat management program was kicking in. Started to hear pinging and pulled to side of road. My oil temp reads at least 318!
$hit... Decided to head out but ran the side of the road with my flashers on and at slow speed just to get some air flow across the engine. A trip that normally takes 1 hour was 3 with all the traffic! Then as I headed further up into our White Mountains, I encountered one of our Monsoons. Usually not a problem but hate to see the lightening so close. Upon arrival at my destination, I was down a quart of oil as a result of the blown out dipstick. Fortunately you have to turn the stick counter clockwise to withdraw it. If not, it probably would have been worse!
