2009 CVO Road Glide compared to Newer
« on: August 11, 2013, 09:29:37 AM »

Hi All,

I am considering getting a Road Glide and found a 09 CVO R.G. near me. My question is generally speakin, what changes/improvements have been made from the 09 to the newer CVO R.G.`s?

Thanks,
Donnnie

I have liked the 09s since they showed up.   I know there have been improvements made over the years,, you might get a deal on one and upgrade an item or two..   I know the compensator would be one that I would do when it starts giving you a problem. You can add on rear speakers.  I like the rumble collection accessories even better than what come on the new cvo's today. Other than things like I said, the bikes are pretty similar,  and paint too.

Thats the kind of info I  was seeking. I am still in the decision making process whether to move my 05 yellow SEEG in exchange for a CVO ( yellow) lol Road Glide. Found one near me that I like and did not know the changes between the year models.

the 2013 also comes with the daymaker headlights.  a worthwhile upgrade  :bananarock:

in 2010, hd used new fairing mounts.  this raised the fairing up about 1-1/2'' and tilted it slightly.  this extra room allows you to be able to use the same vented lower fairings that the batwing guys use.

the saddlebag extensions are separate pieces on the 2009, while the newer ones are 1 piece bags.

the saddlebag latches are color matched on the newer bikes.

2 piece seat with removeable pillion.

12'' windsplitter windshield

in addition to the rear speakers, they took out 2 gauges, and added an extra set of tweeters in the fairing, along with 5x7s.  got rid of the air temp gauge, and moved the gas gauge to the tank with a flush mount led gauge on the left, and the flush mount pop up fill on the right.  making the center console very sleek

The handlebars are a bit different too, if I'm not mistaken.  I THINK they are the same bars they used on the '11 SERGU, which were much more comfortable for the average person than the '09 bars, but I have not seen or sat on the newer RG's, so don't quote me on that.

There's nothing different that can't be upgraded or changed, if desired.

2009 CVO's are the last year of the "Hand Built" motorcycles by a 2-4 man team.

If makes any difference.
