Title: Hot Toppers
Post by: bccajun on April 01, 2009, 04:58:14 PM
I received a complete set of Hot Toppers (193 pcs.) for my VRSCSE. Instruction state that silicone should be used on all installation.Due to Hot Toppers are design for amreican bolts and my VRSCSE is metric bolts. Has anyone used these Hot Toppers and did you expirence any problems?

Have not but the web site states the set is made for the V Rod.  http://www.hottoppers.com/vrod.asp  Lot of information there.  Metric should not be the issue.  Make sure you have the correct set for your bike.

Be careful with the silicone. A drop is just enough.

Ride safely,

I have had a great relationship with Hottoppers the last few years. If you find a bolt that you don't have a topper for they will send out to you at no charge, if, you purchased the complete kit. while in Milw, last summer, they took my Road King and finished out the tops for free, I thought I had them all, missed 14. Now on the SERG my eye has been trained for the hidden ones.
Tip: don't use just any silicone, get the NAPA stuff, Even Bead # 765-1481. cost more, but works better, more control. Don't use it on all, just the ones that don't have enough friction, no brainer here.

My personal experience is that you would be better to change all your bolts to chrome ones... That way when your bike needs to be serviced you won't need to replace the hot toppers that ultimately are damaged on removal.

Just a thought.
