Starting the New Year Right
« on: January 01, 2008, 09:05:38 PM »

I always try to ride on New Years Day if at possible. This was my first ride of the year and my first ride on the New CUSE3. I did about 50 miles on the Parkway 30 degrees + or - a few degrees depending on which ridge you were on. I have had the bike since 21 Dec but family commitments and foul weather have kept me off the bike until today. I was very pleased with bike, handled well and had good torque right out of the box. I can't wait until the 1,000 mile service to make some mods and let her breath. Would have ran longer but the SNOW ran me home.

On these cold clear days you can see forever, I' m very fortunate to live so close to the parkway. I never get tired of it, so any of you folks headed this away let me know.

Muley

Glad you got to ride today!
A cold day riding is always better than a warm day sitting at home.
Thanks for the pictures. Those are just some of the views everyone will see at Maggie Valley 08!
If not sooner then I look forward to meeting you there!

I agree with the fortunate statement regarding riding...A great area to live for this sport...enjoy it.

I was able to get in another great ride yesterday about 100 miles. The Parkway makes for great winter riding on the warm days. Very little traffic and since they don't do any winter road maintenance there's no salt and sand thats so hard on the bikes. I have about 1/4 mile from the end of the drive to the Parkway, so I have very little of the nasty road to deal with.

I look forward to meeting some you CVO folks in person soon. Sweetthang and I need to host a ride here this summer, if any of you guys would be interested.

Got in some good riding time this weekend, as I am sure several folks did.  Record high temps here in Oklahoma over the weekend - Mid 70's all weekend.

I love to ride on warm winter days here in Oklahoma...no bugs to kill.

Yep, mid-70's here in north FL this weekend too, except along the coast it was colder.  Started out yesterday in a light jacket, rode to the coastline and almost froze before heading inland again.  Rode with a buddy and had a great seafood lunch though!

Maggie Valley is a beautiful area.  Over here in the Nashville area the weather has been much warmer than normal.  I took the Duracell out for a 75 mile ride yesterday in 70 degree weather  (should be about 45).  So far I haven't missed a week this winter that I didn't ride.  I have to admit I like global warming!

Anyway, I just wanted to say your New Years Day effort to ride is a nice tradition.  Mine is New years eve day.

My niece lives in Liberty, NC and I will be coming through your stomping ground sometime this summer on my way to see her.  If I can remember, not getting any younger here, I will give you a shout.

I havent put any mods on my Duracell yet, have 3k now.  Would be interested in knowing what you do to your CVO.
