What is going to be the best (quality) front motor mount to go with on a "A" motor ?
-
I replaced mine last year (04 SEEG) w/ 50k miles, after reading numerous forum threads, I decided to just replace with the OEM (updated but can’t remember the letter). I’m sure there have been many on this site with varying results but after all my research I found that the off brand (like Drag Specialties) did not have as good vibration dampening characterizes or durability. With regard to the high-end polyurethane mounts, all the threads I read indicated that while they are a much higher quality than OEM and should last much longer, they are much stiffer and transfer lots of engine vibration to the frame and ultimately the handlebars. If you decide to go with OEM, they are still kind of expensive (for not having any chrome on them) I think $45-$65 but all the discount sites (Surdyke, Horny Toad, etc.) typically sell them much cheaper. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I went aftermarket....found it stiff and more vibes.....self destructed on a trip South....replaced with OEM and never had another issue

Tried the Glide Pro (twice) and not really any better than the OEM which is what I have in there now. When the second one (Glide Pro) self destructed I didn't see the benefit in spending almost 3 time the money for something that was not any better than OEM.

Stay with the OEM part #16207-79D

Agree with Jim - HD-Dude stay with stock one tried others and ended up back at stock - never got passed the bad vibrations

Ditto. Have done the same thing. Significant vibration with the aftermarket mounts. This is a piece where the Harley part works better.

Thank you all :2vrolijk_21:

When should you or how do know if the mounts need to be replaced.

On the 08 and earlier you can usually just look under the bike at the bottom side of the mount and inspect for cracks or separation.
