Yeah, 'er 'uh, RANDYSE12,
I am very seldom asked what I mean, when I make a statement, but allow me to walk you through my reply to your post.  You put the question out, you would like to know how many 2001 Charcoal & Black SE Road Glides, were manufactured.  "naitram" responded with 875, approximately, as the amount of that particular color and model, were produced.  My post simply reflects, that of those 875 particular units, OTIS, a fine, upstanding, and respected Member of this Great Site, has, in his possession, currently, the FASTEST 2001 Charcoal & Black FLHRSEI on this planet.  Are we clear?  Later--HUBBARD

I purchased my black and gray 01 SERG in May 2001 and was told or saw in print some place that 775 blk/gry 01 were built, I don't recall where I got that number but I had made a note of it in my motorcycle file so take it for what it's worth. The bike is great and I love the color combination but it was just a little bland for me so I added a little splash of orange and it really broke up all the dark colors.

The key word is approx. That was printed before model year ended, they came back
and made a big deal about building 1550 because the engine size was 1550.

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and ride a 00 SERG (O/B/W).  Since purchasing my bike back in May of 00 I have kept anything I could get my hands on that talks about SERGs.  The Summer 2000 issue of H-D's Enthusiast, page 19, talks about the 2001 SERG, it states that "Only 1,695 units will be produced for the 2001 model year..."
Hope this helps.

Loose_Goose,

Thank you,

Yes, I am the original owner.  Back in May of 2000, my wife and I were riding my 1998 WideGlide around town and decided to stop at a local dealership to look for toys – and there it was, with a sold sign already on the grip.  I went up to it to drool just a little, since I had seen it in the 2000 parts spring supplement.  My wife was kinda laughing at me joking that I looked like a four-year-old looking at a puppy.  As I was arguing the fine points between a puppy and a SERG with my wife, the salesman came up and pulled the sold sign off; stating that the person who had tried to purchase the bike couldn’t get financing.  I quickly looked at my wife and she said those two words that help every marriage: “Yes, Dear.”  With my WideGlide as trade-in and a few extra dollars, the rest as they say is history. By the way, later that year I bought my wife a purple 883 to say thanks.

Haven’t really done much in the way of personalizing since it came with so much already, so far I’ve added: SE Air Kit, Billet Air Cleaner Cover with 95 Cubic Inch Medallion, SE Touring Pipes with Double Grooved Billet End Caps, Black Horn Cover, Tall Windshield, Eagle Claw Kickstand, SE Orange Plug Wires and a H-D Oil Cooler – just enough to make it say me.

One of the main reasons I joined is to get ideas what to do next; I am currently saving up for a SE 6-speed.

Here is another black and silver. Had to purchase the original wheels from HD because the PREVIOUS OWNER PUT 9 SPOKE DRESSER WHEELS ON IT. Set me back 625 each. Otherwise I love the ride and had some issues w/ the idle but got that straightened out . I have heard of so many different #s for production which do you believe?

So far, your 00 SERG is one of the best one's I've seen since they were made and I had mine. You've kept it in incredible shape and should be applauded for that. I was never a fan of the Shark-fun end caps and had Hookers on mine. Ok, a couple of pieces of advice from someone who's owned an 00 SERG and also had two types of 6 speed trans in different motor configs. I bought an 07 RG and hated the factory 6-speed until I bumped the motor up to a 103. And the stock 00 95" motor you've got isn't up to what the 07 96" was so I think you'll hate it even more. My advice would be to buy a Baker DD6 and go with the changed gearing in the primary Baker recommends. More money to be sure but money well spent. Your motor has some low end grunt but doesn't get up to speed real quick. The Baker would get you going quicker and then settle into a nice ratio in 6th. HOWEVER, before I'd do that I'd suggest you send your top end to Dave Mackie and let him do your heads and match you up with one of his cams. Your M&M EFI is fine provided you don't get carried away on cam grind. I cannot say enough good about Mackie when it comes to this. You call his company and usually he'll come on the phone and discuss what it is you want and then he'll recommend this or that. I've never met an unsatisfied Dave Mackie customer. Why ?  Because he preaches matched parts. S'anyway, and again this is my opinion, do your motor first. The 6 speed really isn't the Nirvana you think it is. Once you've got your motor thumpin like $500 hooker then give some thought to the trans. Oh yeah, you can also accomplish a lot on the cheap by changing out your primary gearing with H-D's kit and changing your final drive sprocket. Lots to think about. Bottom line is what are you hoping to gain ? I wish you the best and welcome to the site

B B

PS
As to poduction numbers on the 00 SERGs, I was always under the impression they made 1550 total with a few less of the Black/White/Orange ones than the Maroon Ones.

The number I have heard is about 1750 units were made. 1023 were the blue scheme and 727 were black and charcoal.

So if the total amount is 1750 instead of 1550, and 1023 were blue and 727 were black. Is their anyway of telling what number your bike is out of the 1023 (Blue) or 727 (Black)?

The FLTRSEI2 Supplement, page 2-3 breaks down the VIN. The Sequential Number is the what number? Number of Road Glides built in 2001?

I'm trying to figure out what number of the 727 Black SERG built in 2001 is mine. I like to use it as a plate number.

Does anyone know if their is a Worldwide CVO Registry? Like DeTomaso Club has for the Mangusta and Pantera cars?
A BMW rider started a registry just for the K1200LT, BMW's top of the line touring bike.

I just Googled looking for a CVO Registry and the thread directed me to this website.

I have sent off the letter to Harley that ask how many 2001 SERG's were built and the #'s breakdown on the colors.

I want to see the #'s in writing from Harley.

When I asked the sales manager at my dealership he called someone and they told him 1469.

So do I believe that?

Maybe, but probably not.

Just like Brian's letter, I want to see it in writing on the Motor Company letterhead.

Till then it's all speculation.

Well 1469 units sounds better than 1550 or 1750. Its just too bad that the MoCo didn't attach a small plaque to the console stating 1 of whatever. I hope they never built another SERG.Thats wishful thinking on my part.

I had two XR-1000's and that bike was only built in 83 and 84 and the price skyrocketed in the 90's along with any XR part. Funny it was a $5k bike when new and the dealership couldn't give them away. Now their like XR-750's. Rare!

Just thought Id put in two cents worth. Just down the road a bit from you. Nice ride by the way, Last year acquired 2001 SERG, couldn't swing 25K in 01, so I rode my 99 RG a few more years. I have recently put a six speed in mine (RevTech), quite happy so far, I couldn't justify 2K for a six speed + labor. I did the install myself, learned a lot. A buddy in Denver took his to Roadies, he has an 05 SE Glide. Some one told me the 2000 orange and black are attaining cult status.  Ride safe...  :coolblue:

Just thought Id put in two cents worth. Just down the road a bit from you. Nice ride by the way, Last year acquired 2001 SERG, couldn't swing 25K in 01, so I rode my 99 RG a few more years. I have recently put a six speed in mine (RevTech), quite happy so far, I couldn't justify 2K for a six speed + labor. I did the install myself, learned a lot. A buddy in Denver took his to Roadies, he has an 05 SE Glide. Some one told me the 2000 orange and black are attaining cult status.  Ride safe...  :coolblue:

Welcome to the site.
I like your text about your avatar!
With the 6 speed what rpm's you turning at 80 mph?
Don't mention the 00 O&B's getting cult status.
Brian will get the big head!
Again welcome to the site!

01,
Welcome to the site glad to have you join us. :2vrolijk_21: I agree with Silver-Black concerning what you said about the '00 O/B SERG obtaining cult status has the potential to swell 103tHunDer's head. ;D When you get a chance you should go to this board - New Member Introduction and start a thread to introduce yourself.

The 00 OB attaining cult status does not surprise me. That's a dam nice looking bike. The person that did the graphics for 01 and 02 did an outstanding job.

I definitely agree. :2vrolijk_21: It was the bike that really got me to looking at the CVO lineup. When the '04 O/B SEEG came out it was no doubt that I'd get one.

Fired00d,
Yeah I never paid all that much attention until the 2000 SERG hit the showroom floor. Everyone I know was riding the the CVO Deuce or the Fatboy. I figure your 04 SEEG OB will also be a collectible bike. It Harley's colors. The 1984 XR-1000 I owned was orange and black. The OB color was worth more because their were fewer of the OB's around. People actually started repainting the Slate Grey ones.

Hey CO Scream I've got a 2000 o/b/w also.  This is off subject of the topic but when I bought mine new I was told there were 1550 CVO's made that year.  775 black and orange, and 775 of the two toned red.  Don't see very many whenever I go somewhere, do you?

Here's the letter from Harley!

2001 SERG

Total production                                                                   1707

Sinister Blue Pearl, Diamond Ice & States Blue Pearl   849

Vivid Black, Platinum Silver and Charcoal Satin Brite   858

This letter should answer any questions about production numbers.

See attached!

Interesting.  Almost a perfect split.  I think there was some speculation on here somewhere that the charcoal ones were produced in significantly lower numbers than the blue ones.

So to ask a different question.

Does anyone have any idea what the attrition rate is on these bikes. (meaning CVO's)

For example if it's 10% per year for the 01 Blue SERG's that means in

02 there were only 764 left

03 there were only 687 left

04 there were only 618 left

05 there were only 557 left

06 there were only 501 left

06 there were only 451 left

07 there were only 406 left

and for 08 there are only 365 left?

Is 10% a good number or is it high or low?

What's your opinion?

Then comes the question of those that are remaining have they been butchered, custom painted, motor swapped or whatever?

dOOd that's not what I mean.
Mine will have a painted inner fairing but if someone wanted it stock I have the inner fairing not painted.
If someone wanted mine with the stock pipes, well, they are hanging from the ceiling.
Mine could go completely back to factory original because I have the stock parts.
That's my point!
And for the record, mine can be had factory original if someone wanted to pony up 75K big ones.
Will that ever happen?
I hope not, but how could I turn 75 down.
Am I trying to sell it, NOPE.
But 75 gets my attention!

Attrition rates are different for different vehicles. Obviously a production model Road King is going to disappear at a higher rate than a SERK. Funny thing, while I continually see crashed SERKs, SEEGs, and SEUCs, I don't believe I've ever seen a wrecked SERG. Now it may just be where I live and the dealerships I nose around out back of, but it does seem odd. Anybody remember seeing a wrecked SERG at your local stealer ?  Have we ever had a member post of wrecking one here on the site ?  hmmmmmmmmmmm   :nixweiss:

That's what I was thinking last night when B B made his post.  I was going to say "that's bad juju," but I wasn't sure if saying it was bad juju would be double-bad juju, so I didn't say anything. :nervous:  (If that makes sense.) :nixweiss: :huepfenlol2:

A fellow here in town totaled a red SERG a couple of years back. He still rides but the bike is history.
