Title: Radio assistance please
Post by: Ironhorse on March 29, 2014, 06:19:56 PM
2006 CVO Ultra

Hey folks, my gal wants to start using the intercom system on the bike. I have it on VOX, where the PTT is bypassed for voice. However her mic audio comes in too low. Is there a way to increase the mic volume without increasing the overall stereo volume?

Thanks

If you have the standard HK unit, when you go to the Intercomm selection, there are seperate Vol Cont for front & rear that display as bar graphs. I think your radio has a smaller screen (bout half the face) so it may be diff, mine is a '09. My cutie old lady likes the PTT better, when I cracked on it, it would activate the VOX.

I think that was it. I'll know for sure when we ride.

We tried the VOX and had the same issue 2K had, Every time I got in the throttle it would activate the VOX. We went to PTT and got used to it very quickly.

there's also a squelch to the vox to keep it from kicking in when your like 2K and crank on it, but then you have to really speak-up to activate the vox.

The squelch is a CB setting, and should have no effect on the intercom.
Updating the radio software to 8.25 may help.
The last software update adjusted VOX sensitivity.

Okay maybe squelch was the incorrect term in  reference the the vox.

However, you can adjust the vox sensitivity to keep it from picking up to easily as we do it when running on the highway. Should be the keys on the right of the radio face beside the screen showing a +vox and -vox. The volume on the hand switches changes the individual volume for each persons intercom level. I don't know if the 2014's have this option.

Do the 2006 versions not have the same HD radio interface that a 2010 - 2013 would have for an HD interface?

It worked fine today, but I do need to adjust the vox sensitivity. Thanks for all the help.

So going to -VOX means less sensitive,.....?

We canned the vox and just went to using the PTT. Most of the time my BSR takes control of it so I can concentrate on keeping the rubber side down. That works the best for us.
Be SAFE

It's just the opposite of what you think. We had to almost yell using the box today while on the highway. The passing vehicles will key the vox unless you raise it. I always have to adjust for different days such as windy, etc. you'll figure it out.  :2vrolijk_21:
