Yellowstone National Park.....
« on: July 06, 2018, 09:53:18 PM »

Babe and I moved our RV over to West Yellowstone and rode the park for a few days.  The first time I'd been here in the middle of summer.....totally different.  Come on along for the ride.....

You know you're in Yellowstone when you see their antique tour buses....

Our truck, our house and our motorcycle garage.....

It's much easier to spot the wildlife while riding the bike than it is when we're in the truck....and the views and scenery are better too!

This cow elk's calf had already crossed when I was a 100 yds. back......she decided she's bigger than us (on my bike)....she's going NOW!

Many of you will recognize Mammoth Hot Springs....

A big bull elk.....

Saw this black bear digging in the ditch beside the road.  Not sure what he was digging for but he was on a mission....

And another five miles or so the park rangers are out of their trucks.....making sure that traffic keeps moving and that nobody gets close to this mamma bear and her three cubs.  The grass was pretty tall so the cubs are hard to spot more than a black ball in the grass....

And another wayward elk calf.  The mother cow and this calf had just crossed the road but the calf was curious about all the traffic that had stopped so he was standing their just watching the people take his picture.....

Mamma's calling....

and the crowd builds in anticipation....

And for the most brilliant colored geysers in the park, just four or five miles north of Old Faithful is Midway Geyser Basin...

The Asian tourists were able to hang on to their umbrellas however, many of them lost their hats into the geysers.  Babe and I talked about it after we walked the loop....we guess 30-40 hats in the geysers.

We thought it was interesting that the wild flowers grow right up next to these boiling geysers...

We had a great time rolling around Yellowstone for three days.  Also got to watch a small town USA 4th of July parade in West Yellowstone.   We moved on down the road to Jackson, Wyoming (aka Jackson Hole Wyoming) today.  I'll get those pics posted in the next couple of days.

Wow...thanks JC. You tell a hell of a story with that camera of yours. I'm heading to Yellowstone on the bike with some friends in a couple of weeks for my first visit. Tried to go before on the way back from Sturgis but got snowed out! I've been really looking forward to the trip, but even more so now.

Thanks again!

With a foot print as large as Yellowstone, there is not enough time to take everything on one journey.  That's why it is the gift that keeps on giving each and every time you visit!

That's for the post!

You should consider jumping across the pond renting a bike and riding with us one summer. Plan now and you can see the Grand Canyon, Arches, Moab, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and finish up in Sturgis. Meet and greet members along the way.

JC, I've been along side of you while you're taking pictures, and must say that no one, not even "Nat. Geo." has a photog as good as you. Your pictures always tell a story, and always hit their mark.  :bananarock:
Thank you.

Thanks for sharing JCZ,  brings back some nice memories.

Yes it does.....from last year... :2vrolijk_21:

Hey JC, the only thing was we had the smell of sulfur in our clothes and nose for two weeks after leaving Yellowstone (or so it seemed anyway).

Thanks for the pictures.  Made me go back to look at mine from last year.  Where in West Yellowstone did you camp?  I hope y'all ate at the Three Bear Lodge restaurant for at least breakfast.... ;D

I have the pics of Jackson Hole to post and I'll try to get those up tonight.

We only had part of an afternoon and evening with one overnight stay at Jackson.  We need to go back at some point and stay a few more.  Was a bit pricey but hey, it's only money...

The Tetons were something to behold....

Thanks again JC for sharing your trip. Yellowstone still has to be my top spot for a destination. So many different landscapes in a compact area, and you never know what might be around the next corner.
