Title: What's the best way to remove all the warning labels?
Post by: Eagle Soars on March 05, 2009, 02:57:56 PM
Hey all,

Just got Ruby home so the fun can finally begin.

Sorry if this has been discussed before...I did not find it.

What's the best way to remove all the factory warning labels, stickers and the adhesive left behind?  Of course without scratching or tarnishing the chrome.

These would be on the air cleaner, saddle bag guards, tour-pak luggage rack, etc.

Thanks,
UpChuck

Prolly as many answers as members...

I heat them up a bit with a hair dryer, then peel...
Usually all you are left with is the glue, the we use Goo-Gone
Finish with your favorite wax/polish.

I use Goof Off. I take a rag and wet it with the Goof Off. I press against the lable then start to peal it off. Sometimes I will squirt a little of the stuff along the edge as it is comming off. A coat of wax when you're done and away you go.

Thanks gentlemen!  Since I have goo gone already, I'll try that heat/peel/goo gone/wax method first.
I appreciate the advice! :2vrolijk_21:

I do the same thing but I never seem to have a Goo-Gone when I need it.  I just use a little bit of gas on a rag....just make extra sure you get it all the gas off.  Then I wipe it down then wax/polish.  Just my .02

I have chrome engine guards.  There is an aluminum-looking type label on it that I am really having a hard time removing.  It is like a metal sticker.  Any suggestions?

I finally got around to it.  I heated them with the wife's blow dryer, peeled them right off, cleaned any residue with goo gone and finished with H-D gloss.  Worked great, looks great.   :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for the tips, everyone!  :bananarock:

Warning label remover.  If you can't find it anywhere, I'll package it up.  The kit will include a hair dryer and some goo gone...only $1799.95 and I'll throw in the shipping.   :orange:

I have used the methods above and in addition; On chrome I have carefully used a "new" razor blade for the bulk, followed by Goo Gone or brake cleaner. BTW - careful use with a razor blade will get shoe material off of the pipes.

For lower fork reflectors I have heat guns and or fishing line, the newer braided stuff, just saw though the tape.
