Wheel Bearing Sizes
« on: August 25, 2009, 08:59:05 PM »

Was asked via PM if had wheel bearing sizes.  That's worthwhile for public consumption.  Here ya go:

The 3/4" bearings are:

3/4" ID
52mm (2.047") OD
21mm (.825") wide

The 1" bearings are:

1" ID
52mm (2.047") OD
21mm (.825") wide

The newer 25mm bearings are:

25mm (.984") ID
52mm (2.047") OD
21mm (.825") wide

These dimensions are for the sealed bearings of course.  Double sealed pre-lubed bearings.  Anyone still using old taper bearings already knows what they have as they better be greasing them regularly anyway.

With those dimensions you should be able to hit an IBT or some other bearing supplier and buy wheel bearings for well less than half what they'll cost you over the Harley parts counter.

Twolane,

I replaced the 6 spoke oem wheels on my '06 CUSE with the nine spokers which i had a set of and had a plater in Cali. do the plating, and at that time replaced the F&R bearings, That said, What is the correct bearings to be using today ? I know this issue is overlooked at times but can be  "catrostrophic" if one seizes rolling @ 70 plus down the highway.

Thanks,

Tom

As per the 2008  Model Year Technical Forum, how can the 1" and 25mm bearings be the same width?
